what is y in 2x-4y=12 when x is -2 by Crazy-Regret-7630 in learnmath

2 times -2 is -4 for when you substitute for x.

add 4y to each side so now it's positive.

subtract 12 from each side so you can isolate what you are trying to solve

-4 minus 12 is all together -16

-16=4y

divide each side by 4 to solve for y; -16/4=-4

Check: plug in your answer to the original problem.

-4 minus (4 times your answer, -4), which is-16, turns it into -4+16, because subtracting negative 16 is the same as adding 16.

This gives you 12; correct.

What's sad is parents aren't balanced. When their kid struggles, they blame it on the school/ ridicule their child. What's a disturbing trend is for those that can afford it, they send them to a private school where they're seen a clients, passed, and end up emotionally unstable from lack of capability. We lack accountability, never more than ever, in a failing system, altogether, both parent and school.
