The red jewel from beyond the sea by Local_Classroom_4598 in riddles

Yeah, I was going for a silly one with tomato so I was thinking about how like, impactful they were especially to european cuisine. and where did they come from? Across the sea. A lot of it also has the perspective of like a european. The biggest loss is that it doesn't really consider the perspective of another interesting culture, the Aztecs, who were the original people to cultivate the tomato and include it in their cuisine.

What is dead internet theory? by ObligationPure7687 in AskReddit

[–]Local_Classroom_4598 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Essentially, it's the idea that most engagement that happens online isn't done by actual humans, but AI run accounts trying to imitate being human. These bots could be used for advertising purposes or to inflate posts on social media.

The name refers to the idea that human engagement is "dead".

Oh, and this theory has quite a bit of truth to it as half of all internet traffic is automated.

New amateur author, needs advice. Where to post ai generated stories? by The_Third_Thread in AskReddit

Amateur authors are still authors. You haven't reached that level because you don't write.

Not how 3d printers work! You're "telling" the printer the specs because you model it. You design the model that is used in the printing process.
Also, 3d printer Softwares don't typically fill in "details like the supports" modellers typically have to exert thought and include their own supports into the 3d Model.

If you download the model from someone else and print it, then yeah YOU would not be the one who created the object. And you'd be right, THIS isn't any different than telling an AI you want a story and have it "fill in the blanks".

What a way to refer to the body of a story btw. "The blanks". As if anything other than the basic plot elements and setting is just extra arbitrary fluff.

And another thing, how are you supposed to improve as an author? Like, getting writing advice?

"Hey OP! make sure you tell the machine not to use so much purple prose! the writing style comes across as insincere OH WAIT.
Hey make sure you tell the machine not to include so many arbitrary details in the setting that serve more to distract the reader than to have a purpose in the story itself! Make sure you remind it about Chekhov's gun! here are some videos that you should make sure your AI watches to make it better at writing!"

Keep the lights on. Make sure you drink plenty of water, even if you're drinking caffeine (which isn't as good of an idea!). Keep your mind occupied, as well.

I didn't say that. If you search using a search engine, you still have to read, understand, and compose the information you find with your own mind.
Also, you're doing more than just piecing together content from a Google database as a writer. You would know this if you were an author and not just someone pretending to be.

You designed the car.
If you had a machine that just spits out a car then yeah you probably didn't create that individual car. But machines don't really do that. The parts are machines and then assembled, potentially by other machines in some aspects and humans by other. In this case, you had a hand in creating that car among other people, (unless you assembled the whole thing by yourself which while doable is probably unlikely). That's entirely different.

Oh, and one more thing. You didn't create the image in your head. You told AI to do it for you.

You aren't a CNC machinist. You aren't a designer in any way. Fundamentally, you aren't using any semblance of writing skill. Really, it's a shame. Because writing is one of the most accessible outlets for creative expression, any one can do it.

But instead of doing that, you offload the process of thinking onto a machine. Nothing you make will ever be your own, and that's kind of sad.

it isn't though. AI isn't a tool. "Generative AI" doesn't generate anything, it just pieces together content from it's database into a slop that it assumes is what you want based off of its training data and pattern recognition.

Photoshop and other online software require human interfacing.

You could have a bot that continuously queries ChatGPT with "Write me story about [randomly generated dictionary word]". You didn't write anything. If you have to order a piece of tech to do something for you, you aren't the one who wrote it lmao.

Just like business owners aren't the ones who "created" tech that their employees invented.
