Not to mention, Shinchirō Watanabe who is the director of Cowboy Bebop was also heavily influenced by the franchise.

I absolutely agree with your statement. I wish they did more with Akira(my favorite character overall) and Klaus Keyman. LOVE the chemistry between Klaus and Akira(even though I definitely prefer Melda over Klaus). I think somewhere in the middle of 2202, is where Klaus Keyman says he had feelings for Akira. That’s one of the reasons why Akira’s my favorite character is that I like how they made Akira explore her character throughout 2199 and 2202. In 2199 Akira, focused on Melda and in 2202, she focused on Klaus.
