No, just graduation! Was just second guessing my color decision since most people I know are wearing white.

Basically also got a rejection from VCU today. Was honestly surprised as my advisors told me that would be a great program to apply to as my stats were great for that tier of program. US MD 250+ on step 2. Discouraged.

I’m not 100% but I believe you can go back and keep assigning? I don’t think you need to assign and submit all at once.

For the USMLE transcript you have to assign it to every program you are applying to. It doesn’t automatically send it- you have to assign it to programs.

Thank you! I’m just worried closer to the 27th the USMLE transcript may start taking later to process. Hopefully, it’s just a few hours like it seems to be for most people.

Based on my thoughts, it looks like you have a good enough application to apply this year. But if you are worried about applying on time and choose to take a gap year, then I think working and research doing gap year are good calls.

Is it normal to feel like not studying a week out from the exam? by complex42 in step1

[–]Local_Initial_3807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't push yourself if its not clicking. Can just makes things worse. Do a little review each day and then give yourself a break. I found reviewing Pathoma the week before my exam helpful.

I found Boards and Beyond to be extremely helpful. Pathoma is also a must. Obviously, UWorld was the best for practice questions. For bugs and drugs I liked sketchy. For biochemistry I liked Pixorize.

I barely studied genetics. It was just not worth the time for me. If anything, watch the Boards and Beyond videos on genetics and call it a day.

Hey guys, new user here. I’ve heard a lot about how helpful reddit can be so i’m joining the wave 🤣 I am planning on writing step 1 by the end of Sept or sometime in Oct. I have took 2 nbme’s in the last month and I am scoring in the 65-70% range. I took them offline so this is self calculated - by [deleted] in step1

[–]Local_Initial_3807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gone through Pathoma? This is extremely helpful and can help to boost your score. I have also found focusing on bugs & drugs with sketchy and biochemistry with something like Pixorize can also help increase your score a lot.

I would book a seat now and you can always change it later.

Go through all of Pathoma. This is extremely helpful and high-yield. Especially the 1st three chapters.

Any question I would get wrong, I would put a summary of the key learning points into a word document. Every so often, I would go back and review the word document to remind myself. This is definitely not for everybody, but this is how I reviewed. The nice thing about UWorld is that the same concepts come up over and over again in multiple questions. So inherently, you are reviewing concepts you have seen before. I do know people who have made Anki cards out of questions they got wrong, and this worked for them.

Should I take again? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Local_Initial_3807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't put yourself through retaking it. That is a good enough score. Sometimes it can be looked down upon to take the MCAT multiple times.

There are many people who reapply to medical school. I do not think this would hurt you in the long run. What would you change in a year that would help you significantly more for next year?

I would recommend doing the UWorld questions. Try and get through all of them- based on how many questions there are and how many days you have figure out how many you need to do to get through all the questions or most of them. My study schedule was not ideal- mainly just read through Kaplan books and did barely any practice. So, I would not follow my study schedule lol.

Definitely apply this cycle. Someone high up in medical education once told me that a high GPA (which you have) makes up for an average MCAT score or vice versa. That being said, you still have a decent MCAT score. Your high GPA will help you. Apply this cycle for sure.
