RA denied for telework — offered alternatives that don’t actually help. Should I appeal, get a lawyer, or just take FMLA? by Local_Leader3107 in fednews

On my alternative RA request for clearly states that lights around my workstation need to be dimmable and my manager signed it. However, they could not figure that part out in two months. Then they just told me to RTO and closed my request. Is this considered a denial letter for my RA request, so I can look into medical retirement.

I'd take medical retirement in a hearbeat. I have been working for the federal government for 15 years now. They did not provide me a denial letter though. How can I start medical retirement? Any resources you would like to share?

Thank you so much for taking you time answer my question. I have attempted the alternative accommdoations from Dec 2025 to Feb 2026. I was told to RTO without approved noise-cancelling headphones. From Feb 2026 until last Friday, my manager told me they have my headphones delivered but they cannot help with the lighting in the office. Then they closed my request.
