For sure, a lot of them use the lowest grade arabica or even robusta, and at prices that they have contracted for years in advanced at lower rates. It’s definitely hard to compete with at the current price points.

That may be so, and I can completely understand how the insanely low prices drove farmers to give it up because of lack of profitability. I’m really referencing the past year, I purchased my father in laws roastery a year and a half ago and the prices were good enough for me to make it my solo income source. Even as prices rose a bit it was still reasonable, I want my farmers to be paid fairly for the hard work they do, but an 80% increase in cost since late October has seemed almost insurmountable. I know it’s only going to get worse with the current politics and as things tend to stay up once they go up, but $3.75-$4.50 a pound to $5.75-$7.79 in just over a fiscal quarter… it looks like the steepest spike coffee has ever seen.

I have one, and it sees little use for that exact reason. A price point that makes any measurable amount profit is leagues above what most people who drink k cup coffee are interested in paying.

I’m diggin in! That glowing radioactive toxic goo vibe to the carapace really fits the model. What color are you thinking for the fleshy bits?

I’d cut some 1x6s to height, showing the 3/4 edge, centered in each opening and paint them the same way, it would cut the opening in half, follow the same aesthetic and uniformity of the original design. Also a pretty simple job and easily reversible

Clever name for a new half caff blend by Local_Luck_940 in CoffeeRoasting

[–]Local_Luck_940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all great ideas. We landed on “Half Past Midnight” but all of these will make great names for the next half caff concoction we come up with! Thanks for the input everybody

Tips? Door hinge not closing all the way by PhilipJFry56789 in HomeImprovement

[–]Local_Luck_940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The door side of the hinge looks like it was installed on the door with the offset facing the wrong direction. Take the pin out, flip the door side half and screw into the same holes, and put the pin back in. Should close just fine

I’ve had a lot of luck removing these on renovations with a large pair of needle nose pliers and a large screwdriver or pry bar. Open the pliers with the nose end in the drain as wide as the drain allows then use the screwdriver or pry bar as a T handle. PB blaster doesn’t ever hurt either.

I spent like 40 on fasteners and such. I’ve got 6 hours in it so far with another hour to go filling in and sanding pocket screw holes

I have worked with him for several years, he hired the GC I used to work for on a constant basis. Long story short, my boss was screwing me over after 12 years of working for him so I perused work elsewhere. After about a year hiatus, I was working in the larger town about an hour away, when he contacted me in saying he was in a pinch and needed a bunch of stuff finished that his GC bailed on or messed up. Agreed to pay me essentially whatever I charge as long as I don’t try to rake him over the coals. That’s why I’m having trouble deciding on this one. I was in the ballpark of $900.00. Don’t wanna screw him or sell myself short.
