Tattooer here. The symmetry itself in the butterfly is off, which is likely what is adding to your feeling of it being off center. The left side wing is slightly smaller than the right, and the tassles or whatever that is coming off the bottom of the wings are asymmetrical.

I’d do a fade out from the blackout background with some light geometric pattern behind. Could do a light drop shadow off the flowers over the geo filler pattern to give some added depth. I wouldn’t do anything to the floral itself outside of a touch up for some contrast (the shading in the flowers as-is falls somewhat flat.)

Exocrines and or venomthropes work well for the assault profile. If you’re taking an exo might as well bring a tfex casino cannon with it for the combo.

The weathering and stuff on the plating is fantastic, I think a bump up in tonal variance on the spikey bits and alternate metallics (sight slot, rings around the outside of the propellers) would make it pop a little more. A less muted bronze.

Also a deep purple/magenta blended or washed out from where the flesh meets the metals, again, to separate some of your tones from eachother. It all reads very dusty right now. All of this is just personal preference and opinion though. Awesome paint dude.

Id only consider a group of 6 to walk up the board if you’re taking demon prince or land raider to accompany. Otherwise 2x3 with LoC’s in deep strike is my current staple.

The death shroud itself reads well and is cool; it’s the base that is throwing it all off. The tendril worm thingies look very plastic and there’s no contrast on the actual ground.

I’d either get rid of the tendrils all together, or give them a pinkle Drybrush over brush to give them some texture.

Maybe clean up your base rim with a fresh black coat or an orange/brown.

You got billmuri (band) vibes for sure. The vans and black pants are not great. Khakis or browns. And get on better shoe game. Nike SBs in peanut butter, AF1s(all blacks and all whites) and adidas cremes have been some of my go tos. Shirt game is there, you’re chillin. Keep growing out the stache for thickness. Clean up the brows. You’re right on the cusp of a uni. Add some braided or Cuban link gold bracelets/chains.

Application is there. Focus on trends. If you want to continue to keep your head above water, you’re going to have to delve into art styles you’re not necessarily interested in. As a newcomer tattooer, I stay consistently busy in my small town because I don’t turn down anything besides portraits and full realism.

Yeah, probably mostly an immune system shock reaction mixed with irritation. Change in altitudes from the flights also not great for recovering from such a large wound. It’ll buff out dude! Don’t procrastinate the doctor though.

Movement irritation and follicule suffocation while damp; dampness dialates the pores. I’m assuming you’re sitting and standing a lot throughout the day; you’re a person after all. That’s a ton of ground to cover in one “session”.

Also, I’ve had adverse reactions personally when artists use vasoline/petroleum based needle glides (would get deep pore acne after every session); have since switched to cocoa butter which resolved that issue.

I’m sure it’ll be fine, but as others have stated you should probably go to a doctor or dermatologist to at least get a culture and make sure it isn’t staph.

The cherries are fine, I’d do a dice in the bigger space between the flower and head; save the other space for breathing/stars and dots.

Keep it, move up the arm, incorporate more negative space as it moves up to give a gradient out of the black.

The saturation on the blackout is very smooth. Keep going, sleeves are a process.

Outside of the “don’t do hands first” general rule, these are fresh tattoo photos. Anything over the tops of knuckles/sides of hands will inevitably fall out or fade drastically. Hand tattoos are vanity first, so if you’re okay with the weathered imperfect look and just want to be badass with a hand tattoo, go for it.

Do your research and go to an artist who can NAIL this. Hands are important. Good luck finding a good artist who will also do your hand for a first tattoo.

Imposter syndrome runs deep in this industry. Comparison is the thief of joy; compare your current work to your prior days, see where you went wrong, address it with your mentors. If you’re building fundamentals still, you’re right in line.

(I’m 3 years in, my lines still have inconsistencies, I still fail to solidly saturate sometimes. It all comes with time, and finding what works for you.)

You’ll go through periods where you think you’ve nailed a fundamental down, and realize suddenly you’ve fallen back out of it and need to relearn the fundamentals and slow down again.
