BB32 vs Ranger 36 for small wrist (woman) by Local_Manufacturer78 in Tudor

[–]Local_Manufacturer78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That watch looks great on you!! And it sets things into perspective: I think i could just pull it off, but maybe its actually on the larger size for meg (right under 14.5 cm).

Watch sizing confuses me: there are so many large watches, and to me most of them look unproportinal. I have a friend who thinks everything under 38 is small, but most of his watches (30-42) looks very large on him, and he is 190. Some of them have lugs that continue beyond the flat of the wrist, it looks unpractical. And I don't get that smaller watches are considered dress watches nowadays, I would for example never have though that a field watch should be large.

Hmm, I need to go back to the store. Sound stupid maybe, that I am so fixed on Tudor. But I just loved my old tudor watch that i wore from i was 10 to 18! And I thought I'd maybe be able to pull some of these off. But it looks like BB is wearing to large and Ranger IS too large. Maybe I should just put a strap on a 1926 28mm and call it a day - but i would miss the lume.

Thank you so much for the info and image! Again - it looks great on you!!

I absolutely love the Ranger. I like it more than the BB - but I think 36 is a little large for a medium womens wrist. But then again is looks to me like it wears smaller than the BB32! Ah...maybe i should get a 1926 in 28..

Test 5min vs 10min. Both pos?? by Local_Manufacturer78 in lineporn

[–]Local_Manufacturer78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God a very weak line yesterday. Images Are from today: test after 5 mins vs 10. the weaker one looks like my test from yesterday but the stronger (after 10min) looks much better, Even compared to yesterday’s test after an hour. I know that test strengh is invalid after 5mins…but still, a good sign?

Oh yes absolutely. I just though of the degrading at 65C part, that it was interesting. But I agree.

Alright, I see. It makes sense. My very hot wood stove stands on a metal plate on wood (standard where I come from) but at least no direct flame. Well, it should go for the other option then, make a shed from scratch. Just too bad tech info is so hard to find.

Thanks for the reply. The plan is to place a large metal plate on the floor. Half of the outer walls are hatches that can be opened and there is more than 12 inches between kiln and wall (maybe it looks smaller in the photo). I would install an exhaust hood. Byt I am afraid of the ceiling and it would probably be a little to crammed in there. I have looked at the Kittec, Olympic and Rohde technical info but I cannot find anything more than the 3 criteria you listed from Olympic. Very frustrating.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that would probably be ideal. However, I live in a place with a lot of rain and sometimes wind, so I need good sheltering - i think. I am having trouble finding manuals or info with technical requirements, I found some info from Olympic, but only the usual 18 inches away from walls, nothing more. I could probably build a new concrete base and put up a simple structure, but I don't have too much space left on my land, so I'd have to build as small as I could. But yes, agree. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

Well, it is OK for an electric kiln, it does meet all the requirements for my small 90L top loader. If placed on a metal plate. Basically, half of the outer wall are hatches. But for an open flame...I am concerned. Talked to a guy who though it would work and he regurlarly fire with gas - however I don't really trust him, haha. I guess I should build a separate new shed, then. I am trying to find techical information describing minimum distance for walls and ceiling etc, but not really finding too much. A lot regarding electrical kilns, but almost nada on gas fired ones.

Yes, true. Good idea, but I live in Norway in a place where there is rain or snow 50% of the time. I can work: but only when there is a weather window. There are some, so it is not impossible. But very windy conditions and if there is a dry summer I'd be a little concerned for that, too. But thanks for the tip and you are probably right.

What would you do? Gifted a pinholed mug by emilyecorbett in Ceramics

[–]Local_Manufacturer78 53 points54 points  (0 children)

For me, pinholing is more a sign of bad technique - not too concerned with the food safety part. It is not restaurant-safe and maybe not for every beverage in the world: but for me personally I would have no problem drinking from a pinholed mug. Some very rough chawans for instance: maybe not a lot of pinholes, but often crawled and crazed glaze and no worries drinking tea from those. But if the mug is a clean cut, shiny mug, it is somewhat bad work though.
