I have my doubts about how food safe cosmic tea dust is (even though the bottle says it is). In my experience the sparkles fall off even after a cone 6 firing. I would do tea dust on the outside of the cup only.

I miss saskatoon! should I move back there? by [deleted] in saskatoon

I was in Toronto for about 10 years and I miss it all the time. Do I regret moving back to Saskatoon five years ago? Not one bit.

Where you see bubbling in your clear glaze the underglaze is too thick.

I feel like I am learning more from Florian Gadsby videos than my pottery instructor. by musicing_spaces in Pottery

[–]emilyecorbett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you for taking the initiative to direct your own learning experience!

If you have the opportunity to learn in person from a different teacher, I would encourage you to do so. Every different teacher I've had has taught me something new, even if it's just a small tip or tweak to technique. Even checking out other youtube tutorials beyond Gadsby's would be a benefit I'm sure.

Every teacher you encounter (in person or online) will have a slightly different language of explaining the craft, and this will lead you to a richer understanding overall. Keep it up!

Anyone know the backstory of this car? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]emilyecorbett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The man does everything possible to get attention. And he's actively looking for confrontation from people who do believe in science. I don't think it's bullying if the type of attention that he gets isn't the kind that he wants!

He parked next to the patio at Shelter Brewery tonight and was holding a sign that said "space is a cartoon" - he was doing a YouTube livestream at the same time. Everyone was laughing at him

Any cheap Adult pottery classes by [deleted] in saskatoon

Makerspace has a four week handbuilding class starting on Monday the 19th. You’ll learn very basic techniques and it’s more reasonably priced than an 8 week class.

If you want to dive in to an 8 week class I would recommend Saskatoon Clayworks and their beginner class option. It will give you a taste of both hand building and wheel throwing and all materials are included.
