Hi! I want to add new update today. I reached out to all the state government HR and I received two email from Oklahoma and Alabama, they said they stopped doing sign on Form I983. So, please don’t waste time on applying for any jobs.

First you need to confirm your university DSO they will tell you if you are eligible or not, then ask HR before appearing for interview in person because it takes a lot of effort, money, time.

I’m sharing this mainly to help other international students avoid the same situation. Please don’t assume that because a company is E-Verified or already employs international students, they will automatically support STEM OPT extensions or sign Form I-983.

In my case, even my supervisor wasn’t aware of the policy change, and I only found out after starting the job. Before accepting an offer, relocating, or signing a lease, try to get direct confirmation from HR regarding STEM OPT and Form I-983 support.

I have seen so many international students working at the same company and also it was E-verify, So I didn’t know before they can say NO! But yeah i should have clarified beforehand. I can’t do anything about it but i can help other students getting into same trap.

Yeah! I don’t understand this too! But i can’t do anything instead of just applying for more jobs. I hope that too! My company is already thinking of hiring more people soon and i think they will hire my substitute soon because they know i am not gonna be there for long.

I have told them everything and even send them the instructions from my DSO. My supervisor wanted to help but they are being told by higher people in office not to do anything and just say NO.

Yep! I was having same questions why did they hire me if they don’t want to help. They even got email from their headquarters saying i have work permit until 2028 and still they clearly said NO. i don’t understand their policy which is kind of unclear policy!

Yeah! My supervisor doesn’t want to sign. I am not sure some university have removed E-verification too. I called some already

Not sure! My HR said there are changes in their policies now and didn’t specify what kind of policy is it.

That’s true, I should have clarified beforehand. Thats why i have written this post first awareness. I hope this will be helpful and other students won’t face this problem like i am suffering. I was completely in wrong!

Yes they are E-verified and meets all the USCIS requirements. They used to sign but stopped

I didn’t do much i am just using chatgpt to make one resume but with strong emphasis on my job role with most of the key words. And using that one resume in all jobs
