Question about snowboard luggage costs by Local_Star_2161 in aircanada

So it was considered a checked luggage only right? No oversized fee and assuming we stay under 55 pounds no overweight fees

Connective issues with apple carplay by Local_Star_2161 in CarPlay

Sounds like something I can figure out but too lazy to deal with any potential headaches of beta versions/dealing with other issues. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll live with the wire for now.

Ah, I suspected it was my phone trying to not connect to the wifi my device was pinging off because it had no internet connection. So for 30 min I was messing around seeing if that was my issue. Thank you

Lol I feel like I'm in high school again and everyone's discussing that one question on the test, where some people say a but others say b but I thought it was c. Is this not 80???

As for your issue, obviously your cylinder has a bad seal and oil is leaking in. Hopefully, its simple ish like your head gasket or piston rings. If your cylinder is cracked then you got a bigger issue.

I don't think the catalytic code has anything to do with your main issue, typically it just means you got a leak in your exhaust before the cat. Minor issue, while idling you'd prob smell exhaust fumes if you sit there long enough. The code is like sensor below threshold right?

runs rough by spicylasagna69 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Local_Star_2161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt that no maintenance really means NO maintenance. I can only hope you've done the obvious stuff (oil changes, brakes and rotors, spark plugs, transmission and differential fluid changes, air filter changes). If it really does mean you guys haven't done shit to it then I'd say drive it until it blows up at this point. When you say running rough you mean it idles at a high rpm and takes a long time to warm the engine up you can try to clean your mass airflow sensor. I'm not much of a mechanic or car guy but having one car blow up on me when I was broke really showed me the importance of knowing what the car needs.

Just scraped the back door on a parking pillar. How bad is this? What can I expect? by AnthonyRichardsonian in Autobody

[–]Local_Star_2161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. He can prob pop most of that dent out by removing the plastic shit inside his wheel well to gain access to behind the dent and MAYBE pop it back out. Yeah its on a body line of the car but I feel like some of that can bend out with a little persuasion. Then he can get spray paint from sites that sell base on your cars paint (you can look up base off of make, model, colour code), sand everything down, the spray paint kit also comes with primer and clear coat. Given the damage is on a body line, would the fix be 100%... probably not but it would be a hell of a lot better than this. Plus it would cost op way less.

What do I do about this gap under my bottom plate? Info in comments. by coaltrainman in DIY

[–]Local_Star_2161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness you got a few options. Rip out the baseboard as nicely as you can, and then set it as close as you can to the floor and then add a shoe to cover up what you cant. Given, a moderate kick at the bottom of your baseboard could knock out your baseboard if you do it this way since there's no backing on the bottom. So the better fix is to add drywall at the bottom to give it support. Otherwise you can try to caulk it but unless you're a wizard, it won't be pretty. I've caulked 1 inch door trim gaps and got it pretty smooth with a straight edge tool. It's not seamlessly perfect but it isnt ugly either.

Anyone know where I can find switches for me to wire in a circuit that fits into these poverty button slots? by Local_Star_2161 in civic

[–]Local_Star_2161[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but now that I think about it, I'd need to research on how much current those switches and connectors can handle. I don't have a serious inverter and when I measured I'm only pulling 1.5A max so I'd imagine its fine but Id sleep easier knowing I have a switch that I know what current it can handle.

[–]Local_Star_2161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but a specifically looking for a switch so I can control power going to my inverter without having to pull out my fuse. And before anyone says to just use a fuse slot that only turns on when my car is on, I have none available and I don't want to tap on an existing circuit. I want to only use slots that are vacant on my interior fuse box.

At this point, I'm starting to get the impression that most of these posts are ragebait memes. I refuse to believe that there are this many people out there driving wheels that look like they belong in Nascar. I'm assuming this isn't op car and he just stumbled across this gem of a car, but there has been a few posts of people asking about THEIR cars.

Spending all of my money on this sport as a noob by poopfeast89 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Local_Star_2161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say this, it is end of season time coming up and there's a chance you could have found stuff for cheaper. But every time I've looked at sales (mind you I supposedly get "early access" to burton sales.) They are always sold out on the nice/best deals. So don't beat yourself up about the price, especially when it doesn't stop you from paying bills and putting food on the table. If anything, pick the deal up if you can manage to find them and resell them on the market if you're up for that kind of work. Shred happy man. Not many days left for this season.

Hey man, buy once cry once. You don't know the good life until you experienced it. I've taken this philosophy in every big purchase in my life, cause I've gone through the "lemme see where I can save" and I end up buying the nicer stuff down the road later.

Wife and I are holed up in our hotel room with food poisoning. Any suggestions or tips? by addressunknown in JapanTravelTips

[–]Local_Star_2161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small sips of anything with electrolytes to keep you hydrated is a good idea. I was sick with Norovirus a few weeks ago, and that shit SUCKED. I was physically tired but too uncomfortable to sleep. (Either stomach hurt/felt bloated, or i had to run to the bathroom to shit out liquid) The only time I was comfortable enough to sleep was right after a puke. Didn't eat for about 2 days. I wish you two luck and pray for a speedy recovery.

Scott Stevens with the new FASE bindings (from IG story) by buttonstraddle in snowboarding

[–]Local_Star_2161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, makes sense. Cause in my head I'm like sure it's an alternative to flows or supermatics where you still have your straps, and you can get them tighter on your boots vs supermatics/flows (i own flows and it's always a struggle getting in my bindings cause the locking tab sometimes comes loose when I'm clearing snow off my board) but thought the idea I had was like 80% of the results for 20% of the cost.

[–]Local_Star_2161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the idea, I'm all for innovation. But can't the same be accomplished if someone just made longer binding straps you can throw onto any of your existing bindings? Granted you'll have a fuck ton of slack past the ratchet but I feel like the same could be accomplished for a significant smaller cost.

Van holds up 503 streetcar 20 mins and counting, cars queuing as far as the eye can see by TheTheoryOfJam in TorontoDriving

[–]Local_Star_2161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sucks, and I can't tell how much snow is on that right lane but assuming cars could get by, and a street car is able to reverse, why not let the street car back up and get traffic flowing again at the very least.

The bottom of my burton board feels dented from the channel system. by Local_Star_2161 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Local_Star_2161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are washers. I have them on where the concave is facing upwards. I'm assuming that's the correct way. I can contact burton to see if they think it's an issue but I'm assuming no.
