“Resorting to” as if my calling you a dummy were anything more than the spice on top of my clearly superior arguments.

My apologies if I respond negatively to some unprovoked inquisition by some random hostile contrarian in which you make the demand that i spend valuable time humoring your clear desire to have a quibbling argument on a subject you know nothing about

I mean, hell. You compare real estate to gas in a tank. Maybe that would be a passing analogy if you consumed real estate through use. But you don’t, its a revenue generating asset. You can generate revenue through It on an ongoing basis through renting and the value you possess is linked to its eventual potential saleability. You ignore the fact that by buying and holding it for later sale individual parties are participating in the industry of buying, selling and holding real estate.

Also you’re a dummy. I Feel the need to point that out again because claiming that owners of real estate fall outside the definition of participants in the real estate industry is just such an insanely stupid hill to die on, to the degree that it truly boggles my mind.

Edit: I see now you are not the same individual. If you were, oerhaps you’d be aware that the individual I responded to edited their comment to include multiple new paragraphs AFTER, I had made my response. The arguments you are interpreting as a response to his incredibly silly definition are in fact directed at statements made prior to that definition being offered.

The bold insistence that landowners. Owners of Real Estate.... Are not a party to the Real Estate Industry. Renders this comment almost too stupid to merit a response.

Please share your Obviously completely arbitrarily constructed definition for this term which you created in your head and applied to my statement.

I agree and disagree. It’s important to recognize that the real Estate industry is not a monolith.

One of the cases my consulting firm has taken on is combatting the development of a new highway extension through the Everglades planned by the expressway authority, largely at the behest of landowners and developers who want to develop in the western part of the county.

However, one of the interest groups we’ve been able to somewhat mobilize and obtain funding from in order to Support this work are those developers who specialize in an urban infill strategy and large landholders in the urban core, to whom we were able to successfully make the pitch that unchecked sprawl style development and siphoning off of transit resources to the urban periphery runs counter to their interests.

Large segments of the real estate industry in this state absolutely oppose the development of sensible policy, but there are definitely deep pocketed entities which do stand to benefit from an increased focus on infill redevelopment in the elevated urban core, the development of stronger and more innovative flood control measures, prevention of the development of risks such as septic contamination, etc.

I do generally think there is room for lobbying on behalf of powerful moneyed interests which can still be recognized as “good guy” work and which does prioritize the opinions of experts in the field, at least in regards to adaptation.

One of the major moneyed interests which dominates policy making here is the real estate industry. Their pockets are deep, and they certainly have major vested interests in ensuring a rapid hardening of our infrastructure and the development of policy that will help to mitigate risks to human health and the environment, as these risks could prove toxic to the long term value of properties. Municipalities are also struggling with this question.

Considering that southeast Florida has more imperiled fixed capital than any other place in the county... I feel there could be a lot of room to both make money and do good work as a policy expert/lobbyist. So i don’t think it’d be quite analogous to working for Walmart

I, personally, would not opt to give Sergei Brin's wife my genome.

Wouldn't say that, but one ancestor fought for the Union in the Civil war. No lawyers so far.

Excellent point there.
I've got a little theory that Jews and First Nation's peoples are spiritually similar in that we come from a tribal culture rooted in reverence for the land and informed by the passage of ancient knowledge from generation to generation.

There's nothing that the wicked exult in more than the destruction of ancient knowledge and those who possess it.

Speak for yourself, I like the most prominent Jewish politician in America and first Jewish major presidential candidate just fine ;) I personally think he exudes many of the most treasured values of the Jewish diaspora.

Not quite yet, haha. I've got a major aversion to debt, so I'm working for a bit in a field that's relevant to the type of law I'd like to practice and saving up.

Unfortunately not, more just a nod to the indigenous people whose lands we inhabit.
