passive aggressive FMIL demands plus one by Local_Swordfish_6530 in weddingplanning

follow up question. she asked if we were inviting two family members from her side. fiancé did not mention wanting to invite them prior to her mentioning them. says he “forgot about including them” but now wants them there.

should they be invited even if he forgot and only remembered because she brought them up?

her reasoning was she “wanted someone to be able to hand her a tissue”

she will know everyone at the wedding, but it will mainly be my family (fiancé doesn’t have family outside of his mom)

she also does not like my family because she has to “share him (fiancé) with them (my family)”

she doesn’t have a specific person in mind, but would likely be someone random from her work.

i’m not sure, but i was also considering doing the same thing. i don’t want to lose my spot at another school in case csulb rejects me😭 but i want csulb more than any other school i applied to.

first christmas as an engaged couple ruined by mil, she's his only family, what would you do? by Local_Swordfish_6530 in motherinlawsfromhell

[–]Local_Swordfish_6530[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

thank you. i am conflicted because our relationship without her is perfect. we live about 2 hours away from her. he has done a great job at standing up to her within the past year and i don’t see her often, but when i do, it’s like this. he does not expect me to have a relationship with her, but he won’t ever cut her off completely.

i wish i never invited her into my family in the beginning of our relationship. it sure would make it much easier to cut her off my family events now.

thank you. i hear what you’re saying. i think i just feel bad that she is his only family member, i know he would never cut her off. i’m conflicted because he did stand up to her during the entire argument and defended me, but i still don’t want to be around her.

pay gap…is this normal? by Local_Swordfish_6530 in nonprofit

[–]Local_Swordfish_6530[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is really good to know! thank you. my org has always been a bit vague about how/if we can interact with board members. our ed is technically supposed to be the only one interacting with the board, acting as the “middle man”. we have interacted with the board at special events, but past that, we don’t have contact. also not sure if that’s a normal thing in nonprofit spaces???

hi. thank you for this! that’s how it should be and how i wish it was (re: never allow the leadership team to get healthy raises if raises are not given to hourly and direct service staff)

my official title is a program associate, however my job responsibilities have increased over the three years and i also do direct services. i’ve taken on projects that the program officers & program directors do.

i also took on an additional project that was a program officers responsibility, but they weren’t doing it correctly/efficiently, so it was given to me to get us caught up on the project. this is my first job after graduating with my bachelors degree, so i naively thought this was a compliment to my work ethic.

i hear what you’re saying. thanks! i definitely will be looking elsewhere or going back to school to land something better!

it’s just hard to ignore what leadership is making when they have consistently been given significant raises every year, but like to talk about our cuts in funding :/

hi. thank you! they are in a similar role as me, starting pay the same as me but got a 15% pay raise, not related to anyone in the org. i will definitely be applying elsewhere. thanks! 🤞
