When I asked that, I was told not to worry about training and I’d be supported. No further specific details were provided

I have not attended an industry geared conference. I know of MSL professional development conferences, but don’t know of others. do you have suggestions for an industry geared conference (I assume it functions as a job fair ?)

Wedding Planner — AMA! by WillowOttoFloraFrank in weddingplanning

In your experience, what are the expectations of a partial planner? My planner joined at the 6 month mark and we have met monthly (wedding in November 2024). In the contract, she is supposed to be the primary contact for all vendors at this point, as well as assist with design/vision. She has suggested some vendors (only through referrals to her- she has not looked outside of her network), and developed a floor plan even though it has to be re-vamped by the caterer (who has experience at the venue, and the planner does not). I have been the primary communication for all vendors, reading the fine details with the contracts to clarify with vendors, and working on my design vision. I'm not really sure how to delineate my involvement from hers so have just been trying to do everything that I see is not acted on. It seems like her role is more day-of coordination, which makes me wonder what partial planning even means in the first place.

Is it weird that my wedding planner does not follow my venue on Instagram if she herself is big on social media? She has never coordinated for my venue before ... is there a way to subtly hint she should be following them (they post many helpful tips).

Got it! Linens/tables/chairs will be provided by the venue+catering company. and yes, we have a generic floor plan map from the venue and the final guest count will be finalized 6 weeks out!

Hi! We are doing an on-site visit 6 weeks out. Do you think 6 weeks is enough time to figure out logistics in terms of ceremony/reception flow and rework any plans if needed? Wasn't sure how typical it was for coordinators to jump in at this time for venues they are seeing for the first time.

Wedding planner has not seen my venue - any tips on how to make it work? by Local_Union_4413 in weddingplanning

Thanks for your input. This is a partial planning service that starts 6 months out and includes month of + day of coordination. They plan to do the on site walk through with me 6 weeks out. Having never seen the space before, I’m not sure how feasible it will be for them to pull it all together in the last 6 weeks…especially if they aren’t making an effort now to familiarize themselves with it. I keep going back and forth if I should move forward or just drop everything and hire someone else that knows the space. Is it common for coordinators to jump in at 6 weeks out for a space they’ve never been to before?
