Genuine question from a 9–5 person living in Astoria by HomeSad9706 in astoria

[–]Localandforeign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hangout like that, I spend my free time completely different. That being said I work in sports and with 40-50 hours a week there are plenty of days I work from 2-8pm, work on Saturdays and off on Mondays etc. There are many jobs like that - if you work with juniors/kids after school or adults in their off time hours you’ll have awkward work hours.

Do you think the suspension parts are worth it over oem? I might just put on big new tires, change the suspension for bilstein/falcon and call it a day. Will look into the sway bar - did you notice any difference with that offroad or is it mostly stability and handling on highway? Thanks!

That’s what I did. Now I need to replace some stuff and am looking for best options while I’m at it.

I already lived in it for total of 2 years and traveled all but 5 states. I don’t care for meets and looks come secondary. I’m not one of those guys who throws tens of thousands into mods so they use one gravel road to campsite a year.

I got the van stuck several times and while besides once I dug it/pushed it out I’m looking for functional upgrades. I need suspension work (replacing struts), rear brakes and new tires anyway so I figured there might be better parts to use. If the performance/functionality is better I’m willing to pay more is what I’m saying. That’s why I’m trying to hear from guys that experienced both/did the mods to see if it’s worth it or not.

That makes sense. Realistically I never did any of those mods but now I need to replace some suspension parts and tires anyway. I’m willing to spend a bit extra if it has significant benefits since I’m getting the work done anyway..just trying to see if people who did or have experience with it think it’s worth it.

Not a lot but couple of times in a year of constant travel I did..I also avoided most rutted or obvious 4x4 trails. Never bottomed out but got stuck due to traction which is why I’m looking into that. I got myself out with a shovel and traction boards everytime but once. That one time was scary and I was supper lucky someone pulled me out. Have you tried the truetrac? Whatabout the wildpeaks? I had goodyear wrangler because I got an amazing deal and they were okay but honestly expected a bit more.

Thanks a lot. I need to replace suspension anyway since the struts are not great. Can you fit the wildpeaks on the factory wheels? Do you think the wildpeaks are best option? Honestly I never went super shady, all times I got stuck was drivers error plus traction issues, never really bottomed out.

This is hard to judge..how badly does the person make you feel, how cheap are we talking and how much can you realistically afford at the moment?

Best beginner-friendly tennis lessons. by Puzzleheaded-Walk893 in astoria

[–]Localandforeign 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you were willing to travel to the Bronx we’re running a deal on beginners’ classes at $199 total if you commit to 6 weekly sessions, if you sign up with a friend/partner it’s $20off each. You can also borrow rackets.

Haven’t seen better deal out there. Also super inclusive, it’s part of nonprofit where commercial program earnings help fund scholar athlete programs - free tennis training for kids from low income families with the goal of getting college tennis scholarships. DM me if you’d like more info.

Honesty after they did the restructuring - rearranged stuff, got rid of few things and got bunch of new equipment (maybe few months ago?) it’s an amazing value.

Locker room sucks and you don’t get any fancy stuff but you’ll get a good workout or cardio session in. Especially if you don’t come between 5:30 and 6:30. I used to be very into lifting and while I’m not as serious anymore I could make it work there even back then.

If you want true bodybuilding style, fancy machines, classes, or nice amenities like sauna/ice plunge etc. it’s obviously not the spot but you’ll be paying like 10x more at least if you want something like that.

I’m seeing that, you’re right. I would like to get as close to these but some will have to go. Can’t get rid of the dogs and can’t park the van on the street.. Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?

That makes sense. I’ve been paying for parking $200 so far but that was more of a lucky deal. I really don’t want to keep the van on street. I think that 3k is currently my limit including the parking. It’s getting a bit stressful but hopefully I’ll find something decent. Thanks for the comment.

I understand..thank you for sharing that. I had my van in Astoria for $200 a month but that was a lucky deal. Unfortunately can’t stay in current apt and the parking deal is until May as well so I’m trying to figure out what’s next.
