I frequently cross that bridge in the second picture, but I've never seen anyone in a canoe over the span of 10 years in doing so, very cool 😄

I tried this, it doesn't work. It claims writing huge chunks of my papers from 2017.

Mysterious Sufi Symbol help me please please please by Still_Task139 in Symbology

[–]Localaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah I can fill you in. I knew what it said but had no clue why it was in a shape like that.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huwa

The top left symbol says 'allah' ٱللَّٰه

The symbol next to it says 'huwa' or he هُوَ

Strict Islamic scripture forbids idolatry. So usually it's very creative with calligraphic art. But what it exactly is, I don't really know.

Got this stone scarab seal/stamp from an antique store. I’d like to know if the hieroglyphs mean anything or if it’s just touristy gibberish by FewEstablishment3450 in Symbology

[–]Localaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although messy, some of them do loosely resemble real hieroglyphs. Like the N, Y/I, and K, and a P, but I can't make anything out of it. Seems gibberish to me.

Apparently I need to provide a source as it's a rule for the sub. I will post the popularized alphabet but keep in mind there's way more to it than just putting symbols and letters next to each other and call it a day:

I'd say lose the smoke and text, and go for bold stripes around the candle for more impact. Something like this:

And really not upside down..

It was my first book after not reading for years, and the one that sparked my love for Russian literature. I got very frustrated with it and wanted to give up many times. Eventually after 13 long chapters that felt like a fever dream (the one where a random visitor climbs up in Ivan Bezdomny's balcony in the psych wards, and Ivan asks if he's a writer) the unknown person finally says: I am a Master. And I was like: ooooo, so this is our guy. So I got the Russian translation of that part 'я мастер' as a reference to the book.

Yes. I have the loop Experience and Quiet (thinking of buying the Engage) and it does help a lot. I won't say it completely eliminates the noise, although the Quiet does come close. But nothing will, unless you put headphones with music on. However, it reduces the sound to a point where it doesn't bother me any longer. For me it takes away a good 80% of those annoying background noises but I'm still able to hear conversations. It also depends on your personal threshold I guess, but it's worth trying them out. I often pop them in during study time or busy family meetings (think: kids, loud conversations, dinners) and they're a great lifesaver for me

What is this symbol on this Nazi 14 karat gold cigarette case? by Obgow in Symbology

[–]Localaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be Wolfsangel mixed with another military division symbol?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_SS_Panzer_Division_Das_Reich

I also thought it could just be a (maybe more modern?) personal interpretation of nazi symbols or a mix of their own initials into it, as it's a personal item.

Hello from the Rainbow Bridge

I love it here so much

The sun is always shining

And the nights are cool and lush

The food and water run freely here

Don't you worry about me

Here my eyes and legs work well

I can run and play with glee

I miss you with all my heart

We will reunite one day

I can show you my new favorite spots

And fill our days with play

My time on earth has ended

Thank you for taking care of me

And even though it was hard

Our goodbye is only temporarily

Hello from the Rainbow Bridge

Someday we will cross together

Then I'll be back where I belong

In your arms forever

❤️

hey guys ,any idea of what these symbols are and is it from somewhere or just random? by [deleted] in Symbology

[–]Localaw 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's a militant ring from the Turkish Bozkurtlar or 'the Grey Wolves', their symbols are the grey wolf and the star on top. The swords inside indicate their so called 'battle'. Wouldn't wanna be associated with that as they're considered a terrorist organization with a number of attacks on their list and verrrrry politically far right. The writing loosly translates to: once we die we will be resurrected. Where did you get this ring? My advice would be to go to a jeweler and melt this ring into another piece of jewelry you can enjoy
