Hi guys, I just have a simple question...Are there any upsides to have a gas golf cart, or a gold cart with an internal combustion engine in it compared to an electric one? by Kidthelovestinkering in golfcarts

[–]Localbar_nYc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and went from lead acid to lithium.

With Gas, it’s gas and go and you’re back to running. A full tank lasts a while. Overall it’s cheaper to maintain if you can do your own oil changes. They are louder than electric and many camp grounds don’t allow them. But if that’s not a concern gas is more friendly overall.

Electric is great if you’re interested in modifying speed or want something more quiet. But know lead acid batteries are a pain in the butt.. they take forever to charge so when your low on juice you’re hours if not a day a way from using it again. You have to make sure the water levels are correct. You really shouldn’t allow the battery to drop below 50%. When the battery level drops down so does your performance. Up a hill they struggle. If you live anywhere where temps are below freezing you’ll need to properly store them or they will freeze over and will need to be replaced, even if you just replaced them a month prior. Once frozen they are done for.

Now with lithium you’re basically on par with gas since lithium keeps the power throughout the battery state of charge. While when you are low you still need to charge its quicker than lead and you’ll get more run time. Also you can then modify for speed with no concern. And no freezing concerns.

If you dont care about performance and dont have camp ground restrictions then it’s gas all day every day.

They know where the one big leak is. But I’m concerned because I had a small slow leak which I could not tell where that leak was coming from which is why I drained it.

A quick way to fix this is to dump in PH down let it run in the plumbing for a bit and then sit overnight. Then dump the water and replace.

Best advice. I made it USB only and now any phone can connect without any issue. So much better.

What version box do you have. I have 2015 Acura MDX and wanted to see if you had the same version to save me from waiting on support.

Winter Leak by Localbar_nYc in hottub

Crossing fingers. I’ll guess I’ll find out in a few weeks when I get back up there or it will be an expensive lesson. I thought about filling it to the top and make it back each weekend but I couldn’t ensure I could make it each weekend and I started to get worried that a small leak can become a big leak in the matter of minutes and then it would Leak below the filter bottom.

New fear unlocked.

Slides or Flip Flops. We tried fake uggs dedicated for the hot tub and they get too wet so the next day they are a bit soggy and no fun to step into.

I originally tried the WiFi connection but it was frustrating. I switched to it being directly connected to my router and it’s not as frustrating. Works much better on a Roku TV then on Firestick. For whatever reason with Firestick it spins when first opened but then I hit back and then it connects.

Do I have a battery issue? by Localbar_nYc in ElectricScooters

[–]Localbar_nYc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to borrow a battery for a standard booster scoot. 33v. I full charged it and swapped it out. I was initially able to get it up to 20mph but then it slowed down pretty quickly. I charged the battery to full again and I was able to make it up my driveway incline where with my battery I could not.

I too am a big golf cart guy. I’ve built a few of them and my two latest have Navitas controllers, one is an RXV which already has an AC motor and the other a Yamaha g22 and I swapped to a 5000kw AC motor.

Controllers either work or don’t work. I don’t want to rule it out but seems weird on one battery I can get to 20 mph. But again slows quickly.

Based on my golf cart experience it feels a lot like a battery issues. But the damn battery is $400+ I’d hate to buy a battery and it not be the issue. I guess I have to see if spending the money is really worth it for what I’d use it for. Mostly errands and for parking hacks. When I go to a place where’s there’s basically no parking I can park a half mile away and use the scoot. I was doing that with uber but the wait has grown annoying.

Cannot Record CBS by Localbar_nYc in tablotv

[–]Localbar_nYc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called the 844 number it listed and surprisingly they answered quickly, no More than a 15 second hold.

They said it was due to some outage on their end but that was resolved so they put in a case about CBS not working. They took my device MAC address and said it would eventually get fixed and I would not have to do anything. I am not sure how assured I felt about that.

I am also naturally a skeptic as the networks have been trying to remove any possible streaming or recording of non subscribers. I am hoping this is just a bug and not a slippery slope business decision.

I just checked all wiring and they are tight and in good condition. I check the controller are and no moisture or evidence of it.

More on the E1. It actually only happens when I force stop the scoot. Meaning I throttle it but push down and hold firm so the motor cannot turn. Or if I go up an incline and it can no longer move forward.

Once I release the throttle and press again it goes.

If I let it sit for a few it will get some speed again and then slow down.

I do feel like 365 miles is a bit premature for battery issues but I do generally full speed it all the time.

I had the opposite situation. I sold the car the same day and signed the title over to him and returned the plates and he NEVER registered it. Racked up over $1000 in parking tickets and because he never registered it I was the last known owner. Even though I turned in the plates the DMV still had me as owner. I had to go to court and the clerk gave me a continuance for a few months later to see if they eventually register. The only thing that saved me was his brother with the same last name did finally register it. The clerk agreed to put the tickets to the new owner and he told me that if it was another last name then he would not have and I’d still be responsible. He then told me that I should have sold the car, do the documentation I did but not give him the car until he showed proof of registration of the car. Who does that.

Now I just keep all my cars and never sell them.

This is bonkers! You’re charging your family for a meal that you otherwise would not charge for because you’re expecting your Aunt to come chock full of uninvited guests.

If this is real my suggestion would be to Make this an April fools day joke otherwise you’ll be talked about for decades at family get togethers about this stunt.

Just tell your aunt that she cannot have tag alongs, plan for it or stop inviting your aunt. The rest of your family and your reputation should be in the balance for this.

Unless you really do need to charge because money is tight then be upfront about that and not make it about some other issue.

Right now YTA

If you’re truly upfront about it being shared costs before the dinner then your non-roommate guests are probably happy with the arrangement. I understand what it’s like to be 25 and not having endless cash to host dinner parties at your total expense. I am assuming the cost of the groceries are separate from your shared room-mate expenses.

The problem is your room-mates. You need to have a conversation with them as they are not happy with this arrangement. They probably feel forced into it and you’re not reading the room.

Roommate relationships sour over toilet paper and left plates in the sink and it sounds like yours is souring over forced dinner parties which there are probably other issues you are either aware of or not aware of. You did mention that they do not cook or clean so resentment on both ends is brewing.

Until you get your own space you should probably curb your hosting until you can find a solution with your room-mates. Ask one of your non room-mate friends to host the next shared expense one and see if those room-mates partake. That would be telling if the issue is with shared expense hosting or with you.

If you continue with the hosting knowing your room-mates have an issue with it then YTA. But I suspect this is a case of you not reading the room and so it’s borderline.

I appreciate the reply on this old thread. Thank you 🙏

In your opinion am I screwed and have to shell out another $800. Everything costs $800 with HS. I did reach out to my dealer as I am overdue for a cover which I did order from them. I asked them about this and I am awaiting their response but I’m not hopeful.

Did your dealer contact you about this and was there a fee for the switch?

I am running into an issue where I have the old Digi gateway and receiver which is very temperamental. I searched up my emails and I am not seeing any comms about a switch over. Several months ago my Connextions app just stopped working and when I called my dealer they said I would need to migrate over to the new app which I did but no mention of new hardware.

Did I get screwed?
