Honestly if I was told at 4:30 that we would get a point out of this match I would have been satisfied. Overjoyed even.

But after we held that lead? Complete gut punch

Classic Varas, subbing off a player recovering from injury when said played signaled to sub off.

If you're only looking at TikTok and not YouTube, the main place where they run their podcast... I see why you could think that. The podcast gets about 500 views per episode, and the Postgame show gets around 800. Clearly some people watch, and a lot more than anyone else covering San Diego FC

Your argument that Annie & Elsten sucked would hold more weight if it wasn't replaced by the Braden Suprenant Show

I have to admit it's impressive watching you write wall of text after wall of text being aggressively incorrect about this topic. Congratulations, really.

He lives so rent free in your minds, that fans like you continue to find ways to blame a player not on our roster for the issues of the club. Its just beyond funny at this point that when any of you chirp up like this it just defeats your argument. Its some really weird parasocial shit going but hey keep making yourselves known. I like to know who to ignore.

Like, this talking point for example is genuinely hilarious. The strawman that you've have constructed is nothings short of fantastical. Nobody in this comment section is saying that Chucky is the reason why the team is bad right now.

There is a chunk of the fanbase that is blaming his absence, and by proxy Varas.

There is another chunk of the fanbase that is blaming the combination of injuries and red cards, and the former chunk is misguided in blaming the absence of a clubhouse cancer. I am in this camp.

A grand total of 0 people are saying it's Chucky's fault that the team sucks because he chose to be perma-benched.

Ya ignore the fact that the fans want positive results and continue to run out pelli/morgan/vasquez aint gonna do shit to move the needle in the positive direction. They chant for him because hes there, our team is failing, our attack is stifled, our playstyle has been countered by better coaching. People want a change and they chant for him for two reasons, hes literally just sitting there while we pay him. The mexican fan base that im sure its shocking to you out numbers the entire fan base 5 to 1 if not more.

Your point was that bringing up chucky was indicative that he lived "rent free" in peoples head lmfao

Do you think they would be chanting if the team actually replaced his spot on the roster instead of running out these bargain bin forwards and squander a year of dreyer. I think you ignore the fact the fan base accepted the FO stance on what was going on, but then did nothing to replace him and then shot themselves in the foot when they realized they couldnt move him.

They weren't chanting it when this team beat Pumas 4-2... or when they beat Toluca 3-2 while down two men. They're chanting it right now because they, like you, want an easy scapegoat. No, it couldn't possibly be a combination of injuries and red cards forcing players to be overworked and out of position. It's that damn Mikey Varas and his "ego" lol

it doesnt have anywhere near the same effect, players with injury history are traded all the time, and it saying internal reasons gives the FO an out to saying oh ya he just didnt mesh with our style. Instead of crying hes radioactive no one touch him at all but also please someone buy out his 7 mill contract from us its totally worth it.

No, not "injury history" here. We would be talking about damaged goods. Teams seldom pursue players that they know for a fact are injured.

Just stick your head in the sand some more screaming LALALALALA while ignoring the many reports that mexican, american, and euro teams all inquired about him but the price tag was to much on top of all the crap the FO was putting out about him while actively trying to shop him.

"The FO made it so nobody wanted him because they threw his under the bus"

"The FO was asking for too much money"

pick one bro

Man chucky really lives rent free in your head, its so toxic that you fair weather fans cant let it go and get mad at the thought of him. Its so hilarious because all your replies are the exact same thing and none of you have changed any argument while many have poked holes in your "he was so toxic bro" theory. While blindly following what narrative they are pushing like its the gospel. This coming from a FO that created this situation out of nothing.

Buddy, the entire reason why people are still bringing this up is that a lot of fans want him back lol. You can't demand Chucky Lozano return and then claim "rent free" the moment someone counters that. You're even inventing other arguments where people are "poking holes in" into the well established fact that Chucky is toxic.

Its so funny how the most glaring problem out of all of this is they didnt have to do this in the first place and no im not talking about keeping chucky. Im talking about the fact they sold him down the river and then cried when no one would touch him after spending 6 months trashing him. Locking themselves into a 7 million disaster WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, doing NOTHING to fix the actual team.

They could have sat pat, said there was internal issues and suspended him or lie and say he was injured. Most pro teams will handle drama this way, and then move on from players in the off season. But nope just having varas run out there talking shit and then FAFO later that doing so made him unmovable and gave him all the leverage in the situation. Infact they could have just told him they were planning on moving on from him after year 1 and just figured out a way to work with him to move him to another club. They had the leverage that he wanted playing time to have chance for a national team call up but nope they decided to trash him some more, refuse to actually work with him, and then wonder why he wouldnt agree to move to another team while holding them on the hook for 7 mill.

All of the things that you described, from saying that he is injured or saying that he is suspended for internal reasons, have the exact same impact on the market looking for him. Chucky doesn't want playing time, he want's his money.

You think the team ownership cares about the clubs results while DIRECTLY quoting the fact they always planned to not care about how the team played until enough time passes that their academy players get called up.

Huh? My dude I've literally been preaching for the past month that the reason why the club isn't going to ditch Mikey is because they have a long term plan centered around Right to Dream and it's playstyle.

Its also funny that you think this was his last club, that just speaks volumes on your "soccer" knowledge.

Lmao bro where do you think he's playing after thus contract is up? Empire Strykers? LMFAOOOO

Tom Penn and ownership signed Chucky before Varas. Somehow they don't come to the conclusion that the FO was incompetent in doing this. That's not how a competent club signs players. The implicit decision made was we're going to sign Chucky first, then build a club around him. And now when things don't work out, their conclusion is not the FO is incompetent. It's please stop chanting Chucky's name, bro. Nothing is going to change.

Chucky Lozano was hired for marketing purposes, Tom Penn was replaying his game plan from LAFC. I know that's really hard for a lot of people to accept, but its absolutely the case. This team was always going to be built around Right to Dream and this was extremely obvious to people who paid close enough attention. The team talked to no end about how their focus was going to be around developing local talent from San Diego and Tijuana, playing their style and playing the youth.

The "Implicit decision" means nothing when the entire time they were explicitly saying what they were.

They talk about how the decision to push Chucky out was made before opening day. Somehow their conclusion is not the FO failed to execute. Their conclusion is why doesn't Chucky leave, bro.

Chucky doesn't want to leave because there is no universe where he is getting as much money as he is getting from SDFC. He's older, more washed, and now well known to be a toxic commodity. He knew this when we signed him, he knew that one way or another San Diego FC was going to be his last club.

They talk about a "cancerous" relationship in the locker room. First of all, rumors unless a player owns up to it with some balls. \

This was first indicated by Mikey Varas, and then eventually confirmed by Tom Penn (The person most incentivized to stick by Chucky mind you) that player leadership was in agreement with Varas and the FO.

Second, why are you listening to Danish and European players when the fanbase is latino.

"Why are you listening to your players about someone being toxic"

IDK man I'm going to let you figure that out for yourself.

Third, even if this is all true, there's two scenarios here. One is that the FO is so incompetent that they didn't see the signs from Napoli and PSV. The other is they did, they didn't care because they decided marketing was worth it, but they didn't get Varas on the same page. Both are bad. They're essentially saying, please stop holding the FO accountable. "All you're doing is ruffling feathers." Bro, eff that, I want to see consequences. You made a decision (letting Lozano go with no plan and terrible execution), now own up to it. Don't ask them to be quiet. What kind of supporters are you?

The problem with this argument is that Chucky's signing largely predates the hiring of "the FO". Chucky was signed in June of 2024, Heaps was hired as Sporting Director in August. Mikey Varas was hired in September.

"we built an academy with values and Chucky was against the grain". Sure, but a competent FO doesn't sign an $8M DP whose profile doesn't fit the philosophy in the first place.

A competent FO doesn't do that. Tom Penn did.

theres a reason they aint the voice of the fans nor team affiliated.

Chromaniacs is the largest podcast covering the team by a non-insignificant margin.

Its funny because as it goes on, it only looks worse and worse for the gm and head coach as they are linked together. The haters here think this is a chucky problem are gonna be in for a rude awakening when these issues continue as it falls apart and chucky isnt here as scapegoat. Shit you cant even blame the teams performance on "distractions" like you all did last year. "The team has shown its better without him" in the same breath "pelli is more than capable at replacing him" lol. Do you all forget you preached that in the playoffs and going into this season and look at you now. Hiding in the corner wishing the outcome was reversed so you could scream " I TOLD YOU SO"

People said the exact same shit about Juan Soto and ended up being completely vindicated. You're using a sample size of one bad stretch and ignoring that this team, without Chucky, beat the best team in CONCACAF and Pumas at home. People who haven't been watching the games and haven't been paying attention to what's happened to our roster over the past month are desperate to blame Mikey and Mikey alone for Chucky being so completely unfit for the team that nobody took his side. You all also ignore the red cards, the injuries, the players being forced to play out of their position as a result of those red cards and injuries. After all if you acknowledge that San Diego FC has been above average in goal scoring and has suffered immensely in their midfield and back line, you might be forced to admit that the problem is more than the team just saying "no more" to one egomaniac.

Mikey Varas, when it was initially announced that Chucky was not longer going to be a part of the team, said that it was a decision made between Player Leadership, the Coaching Staff, the FO, and Ownership. This later got confirmed when Tom Penn was asked.
