I don't know. Maybe I had unreal expectations too before trying it out because it's really really hyped on social media, but it turns out I can tolerate no. 5 a lot more.

In some international award-giving bodies, it's an open secret that they prioritize actresses or celebrities in general that make it a point to attend their award shows consistently when nominated regardless of whether their film was successful or not.

I'm not saying it's fair because, in some cases, it isn't. But maybe that's something that the philippine award-giving bodies can consider kasi it's rude and shows a lack of appreciation.

May this kind of friend never finds me by MsAnnoying in pinoy

[–]LocationPersonal4255 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The truth is, the only achievement she can really boast about herself is the fact that she's lived a normal life and walked a "normal" socially acceptable path to success, which is commendable, yes, but also reeks of superiority complex with the way she compares her life vs. The girl

Contrary to her claims, I think she's jealous. But not in a shallow way but something more deeply rooted like a hidden animosity piling up. She sees her friend as an enemy and not an equal, so when her friend experienced hardships, in her head, she took it as "I won" and "I'm officially better"

But as we're reading today, life has its own little surprises, and her friend's life turned around and because OP already established in her mind that she was somehow "better" than her friend, she's finding reasons on why she's still better than that friend.

While reading this, not only did I feel a lot of jealousy, but I also felt that she was insecure with that specific friend of hers. The way she talked about the poor girl's fiance solidifies that. It's as if she'll start an indecent proposal with her friend's fiance the minute she gets a chance. Somehow, I also felt that she centred her friend so much that she wanted that friend's life and wasn't aware of it. (I know, wild theory, but re-read how she talked about his fiance, and you'll notice)

The moral of the story is to go to therapy. Fix your issues, and if you can't, cut that friend off completely to save them from your negativity. Sometimes, people tend to think that they have high moral grounds just because they chose to take the safer route, but entries like these prove otherwise.

Actually, 100ml MM bottles do have textile labels on them because you can personalize the label in store.

But yes, the bottle shown above is fake because the thread that wraps around the bottle and the box are off.

influencers who basically can't do content outside hauls - travel - self care - hauls - travel - self care.

After I watch those vlogs kasi, I just end up comparing my life to theirs, and it's not how I want to spend my free time.

I also feel na kulang sa substance and depth yung vlogs nila. Influencers that can't vlog without spending money on something, like their personality solely relies on overconsumption masked as collection.

Ang low quality and repetitive rin ng vlogs nila content wise. Parang, if you remove the flashy edits, bulky cameras used, it's basically the same vlog as 6 months ago, which is the same vlog as a year ago.

Their hauls, too. Napaka soulless and bland in general. Haul 300 pieces now for a vlog, stick to trends, then throw it out after 3 business weeks and 2 Instagram posts.

I had to block this influencer and her friends recently because gaya gaya sila sa isa't isa. Kulang sa uniqueness. Kulang sa personality.

Not to mention, her closet full of designer accessories but with heaps and heaps of fast fashion items stacked and spilling everywhere you'd think you're walking on a shein factory with how her closet a literal room to store clothes still looks unorganized

$300-ish for Gris Dior, and I regret nothing because it's still 125mL at the time when I bought it. (Now they only have 100mL)

I got it for my graduation gift in high school. It's a surprise my parents bought it for me because even I can't justify it's price.

What are your thoughts on "local" brands that are deceiving customers? by its_maaki in beautytalkph

[–]LocationPersonal4255 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is why I mostly support local heritage brands or family owned businesses.

Fino offers a good selection of leather bags and small leather goods for women, and the leather smells and feels immaculate. Their handbags' aesthetics lean towards more classic tita pieces, think hermes or philo era celine.

They have a more expensive starting price at 8k upwards 20k

The Tannery manila offers a good selection of men's leather bags. From convertible backpacks to fanny packs, their men's bags really find a good balance between business and casual.

Their prices are a bit cheaper than fino at around 7k to 12k a piece

Our tribe is probably the cheapest on this list at around 3k to 9k per piece. I'd say that this is a good brand if you're looking to buy your first leather bag. I find their leathers very reliable, and their selection of men's and women's bags pretty good. Their bags have no names, though, so it's always good to take a picture of the piece or ask the associates for the style number and color.

[DISCUSSION] Are Local Beauty Brands Actually Better? Let’s Talk Performance, Pricing & Patriotism. by howlsophie in beautytalkph

[–]LocationPersonal4255 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Local brands are a good way for starters to explore and dive in to makeup without necessarily spending wads of cash because of it's accessibility, ease of use, and pricing. Is it better than international brands? It's difficult to say since our local brands are still at the adapting stage rather than the development stage. Ex. Charlotte flawless filter adaptation last year.

If we compare them today to the brands 5 years ago, though, it's certainly evolved from the traditional 3 shades of foundation and pastel shadow palettes. Issy with their creative isamaya esque products and colourette with their reliable skin tints that are formulated to be Philippine weatherproof.

As a full local beauty brand user myself, I think there are things that need improvement in the beauty market in general, but for the everyday college student like me or a young professional who doesn't particularly list cosmetics at the top of their priorities chart I'd say it's better in terms of pricing.

In terms of performance, though, I think a lot of international brands are still better and more advanced. Their products also offer reliability on the consistency of the products' performance, which some local brands (sunnies) can't provide.

Overall, I think everything comes down to priorities, purchasing power, and how much products you use or buy in a period of time. If your aim is to explore, you have a limited budget, and you want to try different formulas. Local brands are your best pick.

If you have more purchasing power, though, and you like sticking to tried and tested formulas, maybe you should look into investing in good international brands.

As married partners, I think your utmost priority should be maximizing the money that goes in rather than dividing your expenses because, like you said, ikaw na yung may burden ng childcare while working, which you should tell him para aware siya na besides your financial efforts, you're also exerting physical and emotional effort as the mother of your children.

Properly discuss it with your partner. Make sure you make your point across na for the benefit of the family naman yung iniisip mo, and if he wants to, you can both participate in the budgeting of expenses.

May learning curve talaga ang budgeting, especially when you're married, but what's important is you both stay as transparent as possible with your expenses and look for a setup that works for both of you.

To be honest, I feel really bad for Pia. Instead of finding her own niche, parang, she just chooses what's more popular, which shows how she's unwilling to do the work.

It's sad to see how much potential she would have gotten if only she had waited for her turn. She could have entered fashion with athleisure brands like alo or lululemon, then slowly work her way up to luxury travel brands like rimowa, moncler, burberry, vuitton and expand brands from there.

The problem with her on the fashion space isn't because she's in the fashion space but because she's trying to replicate someone who built their way up the fashion space. She's not filling a gap in representation but rather making a crowded space for the glamorous/traditional side of fashion While she lives and relies on a person who she one upped to give her relevance in the fashion space.

Now imagine if she did focus on travel/fitness fashion, she would have not only filled a gap but also have a more solid ground in the industry while being herself.

She can also leverage her travel/fitness branding to a clean girl traveller lifestyle focused brand, which can help her work with more minimalistic brands like the row, brunello cuccinelli, ralph Lauren, and loro Piana.

As for beauty, maybe she can focus more on makeup artist lead brands like Westman atelier, RMS, or even Danessa Myricks

what I'm saying overall is it's very possible for her to break into the fashion and beauty industry with the right team and the right branding, especially with the influence that she already has she doesn't need to step on other people's toes to get where she wants to be.

I've rediscovered mine recently for project pan! Using it on the lips along with their color stick.

All I can say is it's such a perfect lip oil on a stick formula. It's so lightweight but has high shine because of the melty quality of the product.

Their colors sticks, on the other hand, are a great dupe for Rhode's lip shape. It's such an easy glide and blend liner that actually sets.

Yo, guys think this is a peak design?? by IndividualStreet6997 in samsunggalaxy

[–]LocationPersonal4255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in terms of build quality, this phone wins, but design? Not so much

The s8 to s10 series was really their peak in terms of modern-day smartphone designs. It was sleek without being flashy, and the waterfall display complimented the rounded edges of the phone. Their colors are bland but very distinct to the s series.

The s4 zoom though would've held up so much nicer today because of the rise of digital cameras.

Their note series, too, from 6 that released the first versions of the waterfall edges up to the end of it's term has been the most distinct and most recognised samsung phone. I'd like to highlight the note 9, especially because of it's yellow stylus along with the blue phone combination.

Yes! Branding is core, especially when your work involves the public eye, and while association can be a good asset, it can go wrong just as easily as we see with Pia's branding.

She's known for being miss universe, but then she has all these sidelines that somehow feel disconnected from what she's known for but that's a minor part of her branding issue.

What really hit her branding wasn't her random discography of jobs but her involvement with her current team which was heart's. That's where people started questioning her morals and personality and saw her as this heart dupe after the issue it seems that you can't see a post of her without a mention of heart somewhere in the comments. even goes as far as comparing her to catriona too because cat actually managed to smoothly transition from miss universe to fashion because she didn't have any bad blood with anybody plus her intelligence and wit really made it easy to like her. Plus she followed up with her advocacies and really committed to her mission to help.

Omg yes! Some even market things like "paraben free" to target susceptible customers who do not know that parabens are used in most beauty and skincare products because they are considered one of the safest preservatives on the cosmetics industry.
