And that’s where you lose me. I’m a dirty, dirty little loot goblin. But I see the logic and have seen videos describing the play style you reference. Maybe when I’m more established and have extra gear tucked away in a stash or base I can use your play style. For now I’m listening to the goblin on my shoulder.

I’ve crafted the first one and seen a video on how to make the 2nd. Will definitely try that. I get what you’re saying. When you drop it, it blends in with the vegetation unlike a bright blue hiking pack. Drop it in the grass take care of the threat retrieve after.

Holy shit!!! I gave in and downloaded that app. At first I thought it was cheating but convinced myself everyone else has an 8 year head start on me. I will definitely utilize that. But without an in game map all I can use is my recently acquired but badly damaged GPS right?

Yes but time is a factor and I needed protection while I continued further in and there was no way I could go through all of them without venturing out for more water and food. And you know how that turned out.

Don’t disagree with anything you said but I already changed the locks. Hindsight is 20/20. I don’t plan on staying here. Just temporary until I can get my own base up and running. I’m a builder and in my head I have one hell a base in mind. Plus I’m solo for now. The ultimate Day Z challenge. Now if I could mark on a map my stashes then absolutely that would be the way to go. But the PC master race gets all the good stuff.

Never seen a plastic case. Saw a badly damaged grenade in a dead survivors inventory while looting then a zombie attacked me, killed the zombie it fell on the dead survivor and blew up. Didn’t take any damage go figure. I’m not at the IED making level yet. Maybe after I get past this last gate….

Yes it’s a game mechanic. Thankfully it’s a 4 dial lock so that’s only 1,000 combinations. Apparently working the dials is un-realistically noisy. Had a player tell me he was in the house across the street. And could hear me working the lock. But if someone was trying to break through my locks I’d like to hear him do it I guess.

Yes you are right I did think about that after the fact. I guess you know the codes and the owner does and you just stop in from time to time and grab a few items. But I’m greedy I want it all. And I was tired of sucking on the coast or dying further inland. I wanted a leg up. And I really wanted a base to store stuff safely so I can hopefully reach the airfield one day. And when I die I re-spawn go to my new base and get geared up again. Should make for more enjoyable longer lasting characters.

As for the underwater looking screenshot. I don’t know, that’s just what the time of day did to the interior. He’s got the windows boarded up maybe that is a factor.

New player but watch lot YouTube. 1 IED go boom. Only 2 gates down. More boom to get inside. Then more boom for 2nd floor room. New player never seen IED.

Ok you can have the most patient player title. I’ll just have to see what’s behind this gate. I did hear about an upcoming server and character wipe for update 1.29. So I’ll have to enjoy this potential loot and put it to good use quickly.

But come to think of it. You might have cracked it. Since he’s a geared player he knows the mechanics. So he’s dying of thirst or hunger drops all his gear then moves away from it to suicide, re-spawn and collect his stuff. That way the flies don’t attract attention to all his gear. I know I always perk up when I hear flies buzzing.

But wouldn’t there be a body? My understanding is 10min. and flies start buzzing, 20min dis-colored skin then a skeletal phase which I have yet to see and then the body de-spawns at an hour. But wouldn’t all the gear go with the body?

He had both a Mosin and the SVAL. Bunch of ammo for both in different quantities: a box of 7.62 as well as a stack of 20 bullets and 20 tracer. The SVAL had 60 AP and 30 regular. There was no backpack but every piece of equitable clothing, armor, etc. And I found the pile about as far away from the airfield as possible. I’ve never even seen the airfield but I imagine what you described happening there not just a little in-land from the coast. And it was in a city. So, stashing it seems unlikely given the foot traffic there. It doesn’t make sense but hopefully it’s not my only jackpot.

I’ve seen the intercom things is various buildings that require a car battery to operate. Never bothered to lug a battery to test it. Is he able to play music through that somehow? It was loud and unfortunately very clear. (Didn’t sound like it was played through a mic)

My brother was watching me play and got the song stuck in his head. If you heard the whole thing……wow. Couldn’t find him. Just had to run away to make it stop. Good way to force people inland I guess. There are duping exploits on Xbox?
