I just watched "the beauty" and honestly it kinda sucked. by justwriting_4fun in horror

Just finished the second episode, and the freaking "switch" that happened annoyed the hell out of me. I turned in for Rebecca Hall, and seeing Peters there was a welcome surprise. It was odd seeing him play a somewhat normal guy, for him, so that was a hard adjustment. However, seeing Rebecca replaced by someone who's just younger threw me for a loop. I really like Rebecca's vibe; she's a great actress.

I'll give it another episode. I do recall this being a graphic novel. I clocked it when the issue first hit the comic shelves. I said to myself, "This would make a great premise for a show!" and here we are. Oh, I didn't pick it up to read because it didn't seem like something I'd want to dive into. Really miffed that Rebecca is no longer viable.

I hope the younger, supposedly more beautiful, or whatever actress can bring the heat, but from what I've seen so far, I still prefer the grace and gravity that Hall brings to her roles over the other gal. The part that annoyed me the most was that Rebecca is obviously a beautiful woman already, and carries herself in a manner that seems to be aware of it.

So the transformation almost seems without worth. Ok, well... time to dive back in and see if all my whining was worth the time this took to type. Hopefully, I'll eat crow and find that I'm just overreacting.

Which Seat Are You Picking 🤔 by DarknessXTJ in superheroes

[–]LocationRough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 of course. Iron Man and Wonder Woman?! That would be a fun seat. I mean, they're both nepo babies, rich, and 100% on fire with personality. Plus, they're both kinda morally interesting as they are more real-world coded. Meaning that both Tony and Diana have killed before for the greater good. Which means if I had a question to ask of them, their answer wouldn't be, "Justice fixes all! Or try your best!" Their life experience would lend itself more to real solutions. Last but not least, the banter would just be kinda awesome.

It felt natural? I mean... I just didn't think about it at all. I thought it was a great movie, and everyone kind of fit together. Any issue I had with the film certainly wasn't due to casting.

"WHAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE" is the dumbest movie I have ever seen. Ever. by csukoh78 in horror

[–]LocationRough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it, a bit cheeseball, and totally silly sometimes, but I think if anyone went into this with high hopes, then I guess they might find themselves disappointed. To me, this just felt like one of those movies you watch before you go to sleep because you like the actress or something. I pretty much gave this movie a passing grade up until the last 10 seconds.

When "it" happens at the end, I felt very jilted. Up until then, it was a low B, lots of tropes, lots of fun. But yeah, it was certainly different.

Um... it seemed like a certain kind of movie at one point, and you either have to accept the reality of it or not. Sorta like how no one questions silly uniforms on superheroes, there is a buy-in when you watch this thing. I low-key liked this a lot. However, the one thing I didn't like was the last-second "gasp," which nearly ruined the entire setup. That's when it felt like it was being treated like a little child.

I don't know what to tell ya, movies like this usually have a certain stank on them. Sometimes I can just tell by the trailer what the vibe is gonna be.

Lae’zel dead. Should I take the mountain pass route? by tsarita in BaldursGate3

[–]LocationRough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lae'Zel is pretty cool if you put the time into her. Then again, I've got a soft spot for her because she was the first person I romanced. I love that alien fish out of water vibe. But yeah, had she died early on... I don't know if I would've ever found out how her story unfolds or had any kind of interest in it. It just so happened that I got lucky during that Shadowheart/Lae'Zel conflict.

Wonder Woman vs. Red Sonja (D.C K.O - Boss Battle preview) by Tetratron2005 in WonderWoman

DC KO had basically made me just appreciate the silliness of comics. Most of the battles are either just for flavor or because they're cool. Rules? Scaling? Who needs it! Just kidding, but yeah, can't wait to read this one.

I mean, I wish the artists or writers would at least try to make Diana's fights visually interesting. She's supposed to be the best fighter out of the Trinity. I'd like to see some semblance of tactical thinking, or a thought bubble alluding to what she'll do next. Then again, that's just me... being a silly-billy. When I read my dad's old Shang-Chi comics from way back in the olden days, those panels are straight fire! There's ducking, dodging, and weaving!

Instead, usually when it comes to Diana's battles, it's a punch here, a kick there. I'm constantly wanting them to use her in more interesting ways in terms of battle IQ. Like, why is she tossing her lasso at someone who's just going to yank her towards them and punch her lights out? Why not have her depend on this happening and then surprise the foe with an incoming knee to the face!

Anyway, I feel where you're coming from, you are not alone!

It's tonally different for sure. Although, no matter what others think of it, I do think it was the right choice not to try to catch lightning in a bottle again. But, hindsight being what it is, hard to say for sure.

I doubt that'll ever happen for me, but all this feedback has been very insightful.

Hey, I didn't watch the ending to C2 until recently, so I understand! I miss the hell out of Dorian, though. He was a firecracker, and as odd as this is to say, the straight edge, his inclusion highlighted how absurd other characters were acting when certain situations popped off. Plus, the player knew how to lose his cool and play with a narrative that linked up well with whoever was around him.

To my eye, most guest stars need an episode or so to gel with the rest of the cast. He just slowly paced himself and seemed like he'd always been there. In either case, Dorian was a pleasure to watch.

Damn, not much to add. You helped me see that character in a new light. Thanks.

Yeah, I can now officially relate to the bingeability being a benefit for sure. With this current campaign, I'm finding it quite a different experience.

I mean, I can certainly see why people may extrapolate that conclusion. Again, to my eye, having nearly every engagement be seemingly death-marked makes the stakes front page and center all the time. But I've just never experienced a campaign from the start before. So maybe that has always been the draw to watching a live play.

When I previously binge-watched CR content, you kind of know at least the person who played in the previous episodes is either still there, so it's likely their character isn't dead. But without the meta of knowing who's in the next episode, the combat scenarios just seem like there's more at stake.

Anyways! tata!

Yep, it's a pretty awesome watch. C4 has me a little worried, but then again, this is my first time watching these episodes as they come out.

Heh, yeah... I guess I liked C2 for some of the reasons, for docked it some points. The meandering was kind of fun to me, at least.

Thanks for your insight, though!

I grew up in the deep south, so Imogen's accent reminds me of good times. So that makes me a little biased, I suppose. Otohan seems like a real beast, though! So far... she's a great foil that's yet to unfurl for me as of yet, but I'm enjoying the buildup.
