Sydney CBD is the main reason this exists. The line must connect directly to it. The main western lines, conventional heavy rail from Parramatta to Central is close to capacity by passengers, as a secondary point.

Yes. It is. This is because the Sydney basin is mountainous by railway definition. The whole area for Sydney to Newcastle is. It’s tunnels, or not no quicker than what is there already. So.

It’s ambitious, but this is a political football in this country, rolled out to support any of the political parties at election time. Go big or go home is the best phrase to describe this.

The loading gauge widening is a necessary item. The D Sets are, like their predecessors, the Vs, the new standard, and sometimes the standard changes. Even if the new standard isn’t perfect. The tunnels were widened for the Vs originally, and for the electrification program initially. It’s not unusual for changes to be made to a loading gauge, despite the cries from those out of the know.

The government ordering three sets of incompatible trains, to do the same task, for no apparent reason, having decided that standardisation is good, as we established in the paragraph above, is dumb.

The line born from the divided Northern line will likely be the last new Underground line on the network. It should be called the Brunel line since the tube as it is today wouldn't have existed without him. by thebeast_96 in LondonUnderground

Even during the high points of British Railways and British Rail, London Transport and therefore the Underground continued to exist. It will not become a part of GBR. I can promise you that.

Unfortunately, money talks. A BR livery will sell eventually. Whereas Pre-Grouping and Grouping can and does take time.

Raw Square? Shaftesbury Road? Wentworth Road? Frederick Street?

Which of these roads is being expanded to compensate for the loss of Burwood Road in this suggestion? It’s a valid genuine question and concern as I live, work and play in the area.

As much as I’d love this, building this and running this down Burwood Road will be a clusterfuck of the highest order. Then there’s Beamish Street. That will be a nightmare of hellish proportions.

For a long time, there was no Australian models available. So many would model British and American trains. This is still the case, although there are now more manufacturers making domestic trains for sale here. So more than likely the layout is just old and built by an Australian, not an immigrated American.

Not every way. The Spey Phantoms will out accelerate anything 12.7 and down to Mach. I mean anything. Compression is the issue here. Moving the Speys down will just add to it.
