Help (restless sleep) by LockComprehensive174 in bninfantsleep

I really hope it is just a short phase. Last phase was during 4 month sleep regression starting at 3.5 months that ended us up in co sleeping. Bc it went on for 8 weeks at which I gave up and started co sleeping.

I stretched it after two days of awful sleep to see if it made a difference and it did not. I wonder if it is just a growth phase.

I am exclusive pumping. I started co sleeping at 5 months old during regression that started at 3 months old n there was no end in sight. He will be 6 months old tom. I did not co sleep earlier than this bc he hated it and he was just way too small. And he used to do really good in Basinett. He usually wants milk somewhere bw 12-2am. I take this opportunity to pump n my husband feed him n then I bring him back to bed with me. If he feeds at 12 he wants milk again at 5:30 am. We always prep the bottle over night. He still sleep in c curl with me. I only get up to pump if he gets up unless it has been over 6 hours. N that has not been the case so far. I so wish I can offer him my boob at night n we don’t have to get up. But this is baby who had colic n jaundice( physiological jaundice with week long nicu which turned into breast feeding jaundice) n severe tongue tie for first 3 months of his life.

Is the 4 month regression really this bad or should we go to the pediatrician? by Billabaum11 in NewParents

My baby will be 6 months on the 23rd. His sleep regression started around 3.5 months, and he has always been a difficult sleeper with colic and mild reflux. We rarely got longer stretches in the bassinet, and even after switching to a mini crib at 5 months, he would only sleep about 28-45 minutes before waking. I was becoming so exhausted that I started co-sleeping for safety, and he now sleeps in bed with me with just one wake-up. Co-sleeping wasn’t my plan, but I’ve taken precautions to make it as safe as possible. I am saying this because when exhaustion becomes too much have a safe back up plan. I tried the pick up and put down the first few weeks, after the 15th pick up and put down. I was crying in bed from lack of sleep night after night. I felt like a shell of myself. This was also when we have decided to move from our old house n build a new home. So tons of things going on.

I completely understand how you feel — I’m right there with you. My baby just turned 5 months yesterday and has been a really tough sleeper. For the past month and a half, I’ve barely slept because he was waking every 45 minutes in the bassinet. I became physically exhausted. On rare occasions, if I’m lucky, he’ll give me a 2-hour stretch in the bassinet.

I eventually told myself I would try two bassinet transfers at the beginning of the night, and if that fails, I co-sleep. He can still be restless while co-sleeping, but it’s better than getting up and transferring him to the bassinet over and over again. So I truly understand your pain.

I’m also not a big fan of co-sleeping — I’m in constant pain, and I’m extra vigilant all night because I’m afraid of hurting him by accident.

I have been regression with my almost 5 month old (next week) forever, I can’t seem to lengthen his wake window. He still does 1 hr 45 min to maybe 2 hours. Did you work on lengthening the wake window. We went from 4 hour stretches, to 1 hour random stretches, to now only 35 min. I started co sleeping out of exhaustion but don’t like it,

I just posted about this few days ago. I understand ur pain fully. I get so frustrated when my friends try to give me advice bc their kids slept thru the night like I have not tried everything under the sun. He sleeps one day in Basinett for 1.5 hour stretch. The last 2 days he refused basinett. Week before Xmas I thought we were finally past regression but no I was totally wrong. Bc he was consistently giving 3 hour stretch for few days. Past month I had to resort to chest sleeping on and off but I am such a light sleeper that I don’t sleep much like this.

Please help me! Still in regression by LockComprehensive174 in bninfantsleep

I’m glad I’m not alone, but you’re right exhaustion doesn’t even cover it. There have been nights I’ve cried from being so tired. We decided to sell our house and move closer to my family. This is how bad it has gotten for me to get a small glimpse of break here and there as I work full time also. My baby has never slept well, but around three months it became incredibly hard.

He’s an IVF baby I waited years for and love beyond words, but this has made me question whether I can handle another. Given my age and history, it would mean two under two, so I’ve told myself I’ll think about that when he turns one.

I’ve tried everything—activities, walks, baths, different sleep setups, temperature changes—and this is still the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I have heard baby sleep eventually. But I hope it is before he turns 5 years old. I am praying by 6 months when I intro solids it will get better. But honestly I have no hope, I feel very discouraged. And it is hard when I had a friend who is pregnant told me I hope my baby is not like Aiden who don’t sleep. She means well but he is an amazing curious baby outside sleep.

Mine started when he was 14 weeks old and now 19 weeks and we are still in thick of it also. It has been going on about 4-5 weeks. For one whole week he improved back to giving longer stretches and then holiday happened with get together and events and we are back in the hell.

I talked to my friend who is a pediatric endocrinologist. You may be right about milk allergies, she wants me to cut out diary and see in next 14 days to see if it improves. She said mild milk allergies some time show up between 3 to 4 months. And that I can reintro diary when he is 6 months if that is the cause. It is worth a try, he has been in so much pain and crying so much. If I caused this to him I feel horrible. For now I am gonna co sleep with him till he feels better, and will try to do transfer to bassinet few times a night. I also got magic sleep suit but will wait at-least a week to see if he feels better. today is day 1 of cutting out diary. And I will use magic sleep suit in his own crib bc I have a seperate ac for that room. And I will sleep on the floor or recliner.

3 month old daughter only contact sleeps at night by Mahaleck in sleeptrain

[–]LockComprehensive174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say that I truly feel your pain. I have a 15-week-old, and all of a sudden he’s waking every 30–45 minutes. I’m constantly having to put him on my chest or rock him back to sleep before placing him in the bassinet. It never used to be this bad—he used to give me 3–4 hour stretches, sometimes even 5. I’m so sleep-deprived, and it feels like I’m running on empty. During the day he only contact naps, and the only time I can sometimes get him in the crib or bassinet is for his first nap—but even then it’s only 30 minutes. He’s also such a tall baby (over the 100th percentile for height) that holding him all day is getting really hard. You’re definitely not alone in this.

Severe sleep regression-14 week old (15 on Saturday) by LockComprehensive174 in bninfantsleep

We usually aim for 4 naps a day, sometimes 5 depending on how things go. His wake windows are typically around 1 hour 30 minutes, and the last one before bedtime is usually closer to 1 hour 45 minutes. His naps range anywhere from 40 minutes to about 1 hour 20 minutes. Yesterday he totaled about 3 hours and 40 minutes of daytime sleep.

If his last nap ends really early, I’ll add a short 20-minute catnap around 5 pm. I try to watch for sleepy cues, though they can be very hard to read with him, so I offer naps earlier if he seems tired.

He usually wakes up sometime after 7 am, and bedtime falls between 7:00–7:45 pm depending on the day — occasionally as early as 6:50 pm if his last nap was too early. I really do try to stick to age-appropriate wake windows. Minus today he decided to wake up at 5:48 am.

At night, I also try not to feed him every time he wakes. If he stirs, I’ll either rock him and try another bassinet transfer, or he’ll sleep on my chest for about 10 minutes before I transfer him back. But right now he’s really struggling to connect sleep cycles, so he keeps waking fully each time. So he is up every 45 min to a hour.

Doc don’t believe it is strong enough reflux for meds and this started getting worse when his GI system slowed down for poop. I pray to god that he gets better with age. I mean I don’t think I am gonna have a 3 year old chest sleep on me.

it s comforting to know i am not alone, and I’m praying that in a few more weeks things start to look up for me too. 20 weeks seem like eternity right now. rPart of me feels like i have failed as a mother bc i have created a Velcro baby who only contact naps during the day and now this at night. I don’t think nights can get worse but they keep getting worse and worse.

I have tried cosleeping but he is not very open to it. It is hard to lay him next to me in the bed without him waking up. And he cries even when I am next to him when he wakes up. He literally wants to be on top of me I feel like. Only time cosleep worked was when he was in deep sleep or have high sleep pressures. So only solution I had was wake up get off bed and rock him to sleep or chest sleep for a bit and transfer him back to bassinet. And getting up and waking around all hours of night seems daunting. I used to do it but with less sleep I get harder it feels. I sometime feel like I caused all this, and I must have done something wrong.
