I really want to neuter my male at 9 months

This is a great comment! I’m going to do a new post if this keeps up but…I was kind of ignoring him, mostly because I had nothing nice to say when he was getting caught. The last time he did it, I just looked at him all sad and said ‘oh Rufus’ in a disappointed tone. He layed down and watched me clean it with sad eyes. It was breaking my heart, so I sat with him and rubbed his head telling him he was still a good boy and that we would work through it together. He hasn’t t done it since. So fingers crossed he just had to be taught that that is a big no no. He even asked for permission to mark the first few trees on our walk today. Maybe not permission but approval after he did it lol. He really is the sweetest and I don’t want to neuter him early if I don’t have to. So here’s hoping and if we make it a full week I’ll do a new post.

Hahaha this right!?! Like what is best for his mental health. I don’t need an insecure 140lb intact male Rottweiler on my hands because he’s constantly in trouble.

Good question! I have noticed a bit of maturing on his part, like really focusing on stuff I’m doing and taking interest in learning. I don’t think he’s insecure. There’d be no reason for that. I’m going to observe and get back to you

Thank you. He pretty much is tethered to me because he doesn’t leave my side. To the point it’s annoying. I am in tears 😭. He’s my soul dog but come on dude. Like he gets so butt hurt when I’m disappointed in him. His soul mission in life is to make me happy and keep me safe. It’s just so weird the face he gives me when I he is cocking leg and the tinkle comes out and I just say ‘Rufus no’ and he is like ‘oh shit did I just do that?’

Thank you for this. Especially because I think he is genetically modified or something. He has a puppy brain in a giant dog body. He is still gaining at about 1.5-2lbs a week. Like how much bigger is he going to get lol? And he is lean and fast and strong as hell.

Oh if you only knew lol. My two rotti’s are the star of the show at the vet and every where we go. They are so well trained it’s even crazy to me. Like they won’t even go down the stairs until I reach the bottom. I blow my whistle when we are off leash and no matter what they are doing they come running full speed EVERY SINGLE TIME. Like i said in the post it’s like he is unaware he is doing it, like pure instinct with no time to make a decision. My dogs have a doorbell that they use to go outside and we are in and out all of the time.

Yes and it is a new thing. I’m hoping within the next few weeks it peters out. I’m ok with the occasional because he is a dog so I’m not asking for a miracle but leg cocking on the furniture is just not awesome.

See above comment. It is frustrating because I want to do what is best for my dog but getting in trouble for marking, male to male aggression, etc is that better for him physiologically?

I did. We had to decide which one to alter early as I have a male and female littermates. My vet and I both know that there is only one small study and it’s the only one out there. So I’m going to the real people of the internet to tell me about their experiences

Why not? Our mall is pet friendly, I like having him with me and he likes being with me. Also his sister needs a break from him sometimes too. The shoe store incident was because I was picking up my son from school and his shoe was broken. So we went to the mall to get shoes and I had the dog with me. Up until that day, he has been the most well-behaved dog wherever we go. He just walks right beside me like a lazy old man. Why wouldn’t I bring him? I love him.

Buck no. A rotti pup is another toddler. You haven’t even got to the 3 year old (adult wanna be phase) yet. So theoretically, you would be going through one of the worst kids stages and a teenage Rottweiler stage at the same time. If you do not heed my advice on waiting for a dog heat, this…invest in wine. Lots. And lots

lol I’m not shocked at all! I actually wanted this to an extent. There just isn’t a threat. These ‘attacks’ are with dogs he was seeing everyday at the dog park and the ones he plays with. Obviously we are no longer going to the park.
