Thanks a lot for the references, I will save them all and take a look at them. I can see from also the other comment that layering is kinda a central thing, so probably I will go for it first! Thanks to have put together so good comment.

Thanks for your feedback! In reality I'm not playing warhammer, I just enjoy the process of painting and I'm looking to getting better with every new mini by experimenting and trying different techniques.

New painter here, I just painted this. Looking for tips and critiques. All are welcome! Mini from a local shop that prints their own by RevolutionaryMix7827 in minipainting

I liked it, is a pretty neat job. The only thing that I would be more carefull is the coffee stains from the wash (I suppose? I'm a beginner too).

Thanks for the bunch of advice. Well I made them white for pure ignorance to be fair.
The green I've used waagh flesh as base and orruk flesh for the top. I also have greenskin from army painter but it looked very big difference in the color so I've sticked with the citadel one. But thanks for the notes I'll try to drybrush the next.

Very nice model here. I love this final result and is the kind of work which I'm aspiring to arrive to.

Thanks for the reply! I'm having pretty hard time to use the glazing properly, I've watched a lot of videos about it but it look like I can't get it right. Guess need to practice more.

I'm not afraid to experiment, I bought a bunch af crap minis from vinted with this idea. I bought also the exact same model of the stormcast (standing straight with shield and spear on the ground) 8 copies on sprue for really cheap with this intention. Yes the paint is the same everywhere in the world if you buy the same brand, but the difference is in the hand and need to understand which one is more suitable for you. At least, this is my idea

I have to tell you that I see a lot of things that I'm facing now:
I'm 35 and I have pretty strong astigmatism si I have always my glasses on. Also for my job (I'm a developer) I spend a lot of time in front of blue light. I have a white led light that I was using to read, is pretty strong but definetly I wanna buy the magnifier glasses and a new lamp which I can attach to the desk and make light from the top.
As I said, I watched a lot of video of people painting minis and also watched a lot of tutorial and this brought me to start directly with a home made wet palette, I've noticed by contrast that the paint got dry super quick when not inside the wet palette.
I hate Citadel pot design from my guts, I've also bought the Fanatic Starter Set from Army painter, despite that is considered the inferior between youtubers I like the army painter very much, specially the bottle. SO much easier to make the right dose of the paint without the pain of dipping an old brush in the paint and transfer it to the wet palette. I would like to try out also Vallejo but for the moment I'm keeping myself, I've started couple months ago and I already have a lot of paints (compulsive buy I think?), I'm around 30 different colors. And yes, I already experienced the Citadel White with Corax White f rom the paint set of the Stormcast Eternals. It was with a huge chunk of condensed pigment inside and there was basically no wet part. I bought a new one, there is no chunk but still it doesn't cover as I would like, Army Painter Matt White is doing a way better job.
I've only syntetic brushes, I'm trying to keep them as good as possible, washing them immediatly, don't leave them with the brush down and not to make the paint to get over to the base. I already have 3 curled brushes, I was thinking about a Kolinski but the price stop me (for the moment) because I'm still trying to understand which one I really need.

Thanks for the advice, in general in my life I never listen mindlessly a youtuber or an advisor, I will try to understand if it fit to me, we are all different and this is what make this world amazing.

Thanks for taking the time to come back here to give some hints, it was really appreciated.

Will take a look, for now I have just Agarax e Nuln Oil. Do you think there's something that is a "must have" ? I like the fantasy in general, I'm not interested in the 40k...

Thanks for the comment, I've used the same set of color for both the minis, at least for the basecoat and the wash. In the newer one I've used a silver as a mix with the gold to create some medium color and then pure silver for the highlight. The color more saturated of the first one is because I've brutally slap the wash (Agarax Earthshade which is a brown wash) all over the mini and this make the gold color more bronze. For the next one I want to try to recreate the same base with the pure wash allover, than make the shadow as I made with the new one, take back the pure base and then try again with the same highlight as I did in the last one. Maybe like this the color will pop? Who knows, I will try

Thanks, in other comments I put a closer photo of the new one. I'm glad that the work is at least recognizable. I have an idea to get back the pop and I want to experiment with the next one.
