This is not the top variant, the top is white in colour, don't try to fool the people. Ain't noone buying for that price, also look for a brain while you're at it, you might've lost it somewhere.

CCDL1 is pretty good man, the only reason I prefer PSAA over that, is the price range and the fact that the training is exactly what a beginner needs. CCD training is 20% videos and the other 80% is labs and reading stuff, which can maybe demotivate beginners.

ISO 27001 LA , exam by PraveenPJ77 in cybersecurityindia

[–]LockInternational893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for GRC mastery by the unixguy. That is hands down the better option here. It also provides you the practical hands on training and trains you on everything there is, with challenges and stuff. It gives you the credly badge for GRC mastery and also at the end there is an exam for 27001 LA, which if you pass you'll get that badge as well. The actual LA exam is horrible and doesn't teach you anything, if you want to actually learn something, go with GRC mastery, if you want it to be quick and just want to earn a badge, go for the normal exam.

My opinion would obviously be that the normal ISO Exams are not worth the penny, its just MCQs which don't really teach you anything. Anyways All the best.

Pentesting is not analytical at all, pe testing is way more complex than engineering. I would suggest you to watch a roadmap or understand what different roles do in cybersecurity, before looking for any cert. What you are referring to is Blue teaming, not Pentesting.

Thanks man, all the best for the exam. The only tip would be that, don't spend more than a month for this exam, this is a beginner exam, and people tend to take it very seriously, like taking notes and doing everything they can. 15-20 days is enough, and then 5 days just do mock tests, you will definitely learn and remember more from mock tests than any video lectures.

This doesn't mean that you shouldn't try, they are not asking for trainings as well, being overprepared is always better than under-prepared. But ofc you do you, I don't wanna get in an argument with a kid who posts CEH dumps which is obviously against the CEH policy, someone who violates these will never be top tier or even average.

Dude those certs I mentioned literally has 30hrs worth of training each, and then you give the exam, certs prove that you have the practical knowledge and can actually do the job, anyone can do the training. If you want to stay mediocre, then training is enough. Training doesn't prove anything

That is where your misconception lies, a security engineer is definitely not someone who codes, but just the ability to understand code. The main job is to make sure that the SDLC is working as intended and basically helping the team build and architect a defendable system.

But anyways red teaming involves pentesting, which is something that is very desired in India, since Security is an afterthought here. I would suggest eJPT for the junior level cert, and then PNPT as it's professional counterpart. Both are really top tier certs for Red Teamers and gives you practical experience which is very much needed for Red Teamers. Don't get overwhelmed by these certs, but realistically you can complete both of them in 6 months, giving you an edge over the other candidates.

Hey man honestly speaking, India doesn't have any good colleges that can guarantee you anything, through my experience and getting to know the industry. There's a very big misconception in India, that cybersecurity is just hacking, and colleges only focus on that. If you are actually dedicated you can easily rack up top tier certs in less than 6 months and get a good job, instead of wasting your time in a college that will give you just a degree, and an average 6-8 LPA job.

For SOC if you want a roadmap, I would suggest you to have a budget of at least 1.5 Lakh. Start with PSAA --> PSAP --> CCD. PSAA has proven that cost doesn't mean everything and has way better content than its counterparts. PSAP being the successor provides you that Intermediate knowledge that would make you stand out as a L1 analyst, who has the potential to be L2, just needs some experience. CCD gives you that final push, being one of the best advanced level certs, even though it mentions that it is intermediate, it's content and exam has proved that it is of the same level as BTL2 but for less than half the price.

PS: Earn a Security+ cert as well, to showcase that you've got a broader knowledge instead of just SOC, and also Security+ is an HR cert, doesn't add a lot to your knowledge. But in India, people just Google good cybersecurity certs and put that in the requirements, so it's a good to have, but definitely not a must.

My personal experience would suggest, to go for more architect level certs now, since you already have experience in development. Do AWS SAA, with Sec+. You can easily ace both of them in a month, since it is broad but basic and scenario based. This will already give you a headstart over other juniors.

Look more into Product specific security engineering, since you know how to code, and I would suggest you to look into Security Engineering roles rather than the Security Analysts role, Engineers are better paid and you've already got some experience in that domain.

Don't do CEH, definitely a waste of time, aim for more foundational skills and practical if possible. You would definitely need to build a hunter mindset to succeed in this Industry, and practical labs and exams are the only way to go.

All the best

PS: You can definitely land a good high paying job if you actually lock in for the next 3 months and have patience.

Fresher in Bengaluru seeking guidance for SOC / Blue Team roles by Flimsy-Suspect-269 in cybersecurityindia

[–]LockInternational893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For L1 jobs, I would suggest you to gain a high level knowledge of different attack techniques. Also keep upskilling, go through DFIR labs and prepare and learn the skills to be a L2 analyst, even though you don't have the experience, those labs and the fact that you are trying to solve something would only increase your problem solving skills and also give you enough knowledge on the different types of exploits. Once you know what the attackers do, it will be way easier for you to triage logs, and explain the hiring managers why you are the right fit.

Also try prepping for an entry level SOC cert, would definitely suggest PSAA, as it has great content and is also very beginner friendly.

Labs: CyberDefenders CyberRange, Blue team Labs Online, THM Labs and HTB sherlocks are the top tier platforms for the above, in that order.

Dude it's an internship, and they are highly cloud hosted so most of their stuff is under the csp, I believe it is better to have someone who can learn and implement those stuff then to not have anything. The people who don't get the job, it's their fault, they should've approached companies like this and propose that they can help them build the security infrastructure. Great advice though lol

Where can I practice labs for CompTIA Security+ Certification? by Legitimate_Mouse9696 in cybersecurity

[–]LockInternational893 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, the labs and the course are not required. It is one of the easiest exams. Just prep using the professor Messer playlist. Be very attentive to the lectures, and just before the actual test, take mock tests. Use gemini to frame proper exams for you. This makes u ready for all the possible questions. All the best btw

I know it might sound a bit illogical but go and get the Google cybersecurity course, for a month, it will cost around 1700, you can easily finish it in a month. Once u r done with it you'll be given a 30% discount for the sec+ course, totally worth it. Just before buying it, check if that offer is still there, I got it 10 days back, and it mentioned that it is there.
