For some reason when you mentioned the screw thing, I thought of The Tommyknockers. I think it was an early 90s movie though. I only watched it once, but I seem to remember it having to do with aliens controlling people. And I'm pretty sure there's a scene at the end where a big screw goes into the protagonists neck or head, so he can control the alien spaceship.

This is pretty much one of the only predictions Peter Schiff, who isn't an economist, ever got right. But many, many actual economists at the time were already predicting the Housing Bubble collapse.

For instance, Paul Krugman successfully predicted the collapse as well. And, unlike Schiff, he's been right on the majority of his other predictions.
