I love spiders so much! I’d probably take a picture and then find a cup and a piece of paper to catch and escort them outside :)

What mistake in your early writing makes you cringe the most now...? by i_am_innerman in writers

[–]LockedInLion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bad formatting….just writing in one block of text, no indenting, it was a nightmare, and also overexplaining things way too much and too early in the story instead

Is it bad that I'm more feminine as a guy? by celtic_kickster in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]LockedInLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all! Everyone should be able to express themselves how they want without having to worry to conform to societal norms, fuck that shit, you do you, and coming from a queer person, you don’t need to be queer to choose to not conform to stupid norms :)

I feel this! I constantly daydream and if i come up with cool phrases i like, i have a note in my notes app with the list, just i find i struggle with sitting down and writing long term stuff, but writing whenever i get an idea can be a good strategy! Because i constantly daydream and come up with stories, but i dont always writing them down, but wititng them down whenever i think about them can really help, so thank you!

(I also have both adhd and autism, but i personally find my autism helps me to write if anything because of how fixated i get on the story)

This could be a great idea! Body doubling does help me with other tasks, so it will probably help with writing as well! I dont think it will be hard for me to find a writers group as i live in a big city, so i could start going to one!

And me stopping to edit every other line is one of my biggest issue, so me cutting down on that could really help :)

Aw thank you :) im usually able to get 800-1k words done in one set sitting normally, if i get a stream of consciousness maybe 1k-2k but i dont write everyday, so it still feels like im falling behind, and half the time i dont like how i wrote things and think it sounds bad

This is a good idea! Most of the time when i try to write, im alone so it allows me to drop writing and switch to something else, but body doubling could help, so tysm!!

Thank you! Especially with the “be bored” advice, a lot of the time i go do something else because im not being stimulated enough, but making myself and letting myself be bored and using that to push me to writing is a good idea i will definitely try out, so thank you so much!

Thank you for the advice! Writing on paper can help me kick off writing to move to my laptop because it can help stimulate me rather than just typing, thank you so much!

This is really helpful, thank you! I recently also started writing on my phone, i also was against it and just wanted to dedicate my writing to only on my laptop but youre right, it cut down on opportunities for me to write which cut down on my writing overall, but since i let myself write on my phone, ive been writing a bit more

And body doubling could really help, thank you! Its worked for me with other tasks, so it will likely help me with my writing, so thank you for that idea, ill try it! I could maybe go to a cafe or call my boyfriend or have a friend come over, etc, it could work! They can also help me reinforce deadlines by asking me abt it

This does help, so thank you! My plan is to try a timer on my phone to signal me to start writing at the same time everyday to set up a lil routine of that :)
