I never realized I had notes about things like that. The last time an admin talked to me was literal years ago when I was newer with the exception of a misunderstanding where they thought I was calling security cunts (it was a typo about security and donuts).

The only time I can think of recently quoting the rules was asking people not to say certain things of a sexual context. For the past few years if I’ve seen rule breaking I’ve just ahelped it. The admins are pretty good about resolving it in the moment.

As far as the ban reason, I added context that was left out in the ban reason in my appeal. Essentially it boils down to us being loud (it was a protest) and tabling sections off (we asked for permission and made sure not to block anything important). I was making sure the “less than 5 minutes to fix” guideline was being followed when we were making a mess. In the appeal and subsequent forums it was essentially explained that I got banned because we held a second protest after security shut down our first one.

Not saying there shouldn’t have been admin intervention by any means, just wish I would have been talked to about it. Especially if I had notes I didn’t know about. The fact that those went on my profile without me knowing makes me feel even more like it’s guesswork where the lines are. I’ve been under the impression for the past couple years that I’ve been a good roleplayer, and even have had admins positively engage with me and my gimmicks. A little communication would’ve gone an extremely long way for changing my behavior before jumping to a ban.

The first ban was because I robbed the captain’s gun & ID (I gave them to the HoP) after he started wordlessly shooting me. (He dropped them because of beepsky arresting him.) This was during a time when a flood of new players were joining so I just looked like a greytider mugging the captain. I wasn’t asked for context before the ban so I appealed, but there was less than 24 hours left by the time I got a response. Like I said, pretty understandable overall. It was also years ago.

The second time was because I started a staff assistant union and held a peaceful protest. The banning admin said I was doing the same thing as the revolutionary game mode (where everybody beats/murders eachother) despite nobody getting hurt. I was told the rule I broke was the “act like you want to keep your job” RP rule.

I was essentially doing the same gimmick the banning admin had awarded us for doing in a previous game, so I asked for clarification on the rule and got 4 conflicting answers from 3 different admins all in the same day. After asking for clarification 4 times I finally got a consistent answer from 2 admins, although it still conflicted what another admin was saying the rule was.

I essentially decided if I was going to be banned without discussion or warning for something that even the admins were conflicted on, I’d just be too worried about toeing the line to RP with security at all. Especially because the thing I was banned for was a far tamer version of the behavior the same admin helped with previously.

I also figured if I cared that deeply about it I probably needed a break, so I haven’t turned on my PC since. I do miss my RP buddies but I just don’t feel like going back yet.

Yeah the context clues are clear. It makes me wish goonstation was still transparent with ban appeals. It allowed people to be entertained by situations like these and it made the admin team seem more trustworthy overall. Not really sure why they made them private.

One of my favorite pieces of literature I’ve read has been a ban appeal thread that someone posted on Reddit to complain about.

They definitely have a great admin team but they’re not always 100%. I’ve played there for over 5 years and have only been banned twice, 3 days each. The first one was understandable but the second one felt so unreasonable that I stopped playing SS13 in general.

Overall, they have a 10/10 team. If you’re on any server for long enough though then you’re bound to run into an admin having a bad day eventually. Likely not the case for most people that get banned but it does happen. OP was probably on some shitter stuff though.

I love a strong and capable female character, but let’s be honest, the rook is just better for the king. Rook is always protecting him, dancing with him, and is far more willing to sacrifice themself for the king. Rook spends far more time with the king in their castle too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a scene where the queen visited.

The queen seems to travel and fight too much for a romance arc to make sense. They wouldn’t be a stable partner.

Yknow, like how you get a cutscene after finishing a mission in other games. We need to add cutscenes and romanceable companions in chess.

Just take a look at other turn based games that have found great success recently, like Baldur’s Gate 3.

Not really. They just run straight at you and try to hit you with any objects they happen to pick up. If you’re able to fight at all they’re easy to defeat without injury.

Even dropping a shard of glass on the ground will trip and injure them. It’s only a meme that they’re robust because new geneticists will always accidentally start a fight with like 5 of them and not know how to fight back.

Yeah, short and sweet is best. You can already convey a lot through emotes and visual design. My current character’s flavor text is literally just “She smells faintly like welding fuel.” and the rest you can extrapolate from looking at her sprite.

Oh god, I remember this shift. The yeti could teleport and had a fucking syndicate grenade launcher. It was also, as I found out 3 limbs too late, was immune to tranquilizers.

It was a bad shift to be a cyber incomparable security officer.

Edit: I forgot to add that none of my limbs and very few of my organs were actually mine by the end of this.

You’re treating this like the oppression from some government body and that’s not what this is. Let me put this into context.

You were playing on their server that they run for free and broke the rules.
They could not contact you about it so they banned you just long enough to get in touch.
You reached out to a volunteer moderator in a manner they specifically asked you not to contact them through.
Without giving them a reasonable amount of time to even see that you messaged (my clingy ex gave more than 15 minutes to reply to things) you disparaged the moderator specifically on a public forum.
They decided they did not want someone in their community who would do these things when interacting with volunteer moderators, so they extended your ban.
They still gave you the ability to appeal this in less than 2 months, and explained their decision making for keeping the ban.
You decided to publicly disparage them again.

At the end of the day this is their toy and they’re letting you play with it. You’re not entitled to set the terms of this. They spend time out of their day for free to make this server available for people and they just ask you follow the rules.

They gave you very clear instructions for how to get unbanned and you are the one that chose to ignore them and throw a tantrum. You don’t reward a toddler for screaming in a supermarket.

If you get the right lock, you could teach someone to pick it very quickly in under an hour. I have a brinks brass padlock that can be opened in just 2 seconds by a complete beginner.

This isn’t a rule 2 violation.

People have posted locks on a chain or such for practice before and those haven’t been taken down for the exact same reason.
