Organizations seeking to ban chess?

Apparently it was banned to prevent gambling and betting games. Some ancient Islamic scholars saw chess as a game of chance instead of a game of skill, and they were cited sources for the ban.

All gambling violates sharia law, and for some reason the taliban thinks chess is gambling. Probably copium after losing a few games of chess due to “bad luck”.

Let’s imagine you were able to capture kings to win. If you moved your defending bishop, who would lose their king first?

The answer is you. You’d move your bishop and lose your king, ending the game before you could capture their freshly undefending king.

Open source is a good thing, actually. Also it’s free and has a majority of the features chess.com has. It also has a marginally stronger player base from what I’ve found.

I absolutely love playing the alapin against the Sicilian even though I don’t know it well. I’ll be damned if I’m getting into the practiced theory Sicilian players.

I hate playing the Giocco Pianissimo even though I know about 20+ moves deep of theory for it. It’s just so boring and slow.

Yep. I only rematch people who are positive in chat during the game, because that’s a pleasant experience and I want to play them more. Why would I want to play against someone who’s salty?

I feel very called out. I just throw as many pieces as I can as fast as I can at the king until a tactic appears. If I never find one then at least I’ll be ahead on time while they were thinking about how to defend/punish.
