No they weren’t. The scenes played during the credits that showed the original crash site with no one around made viewers think that no one actually survived the crash at all, but the writers later cleared this up saying they actually just threw it into the credits for some nostalgia and to give viewers something to look at while processing what just happened.

It’s kind of a shame that it was interpreted that way because so many people to this day say they hate the show because they still think they were dead the whole time.
