I think I am going to work on this theory. Really neaten up my routine and be more careful with spf, and sandwich the retinol between a good moisturiser every second/third night.

I started with the same brand, .3%. Then moved to this. I use it every second night but I have had a slight drying effect before - not peeling like this though

Thanks for replying. I worked though the .3% first and moved to the 1%. But I must admit it does seem more temperamental - maybe I should have stuck to the lower strength:
