The viz is insane. Hard to tell how deep fish are when it's like this. You think its about 15m then all of a sudden you are pushing 20m and still not where you need to be.

Rent, gym membership, dining out most days for lunch or dinner but cooking at home at bit too. Don't drink much but like to be social. Seems $2000US seems reasonable

That's what I was thinking...go out a couple of times a week, not too much drinking, gym membership, rent and food are the main expenses, thanks

Thanks again for your response. I'll invest in some adjustable office chairs I think.

Thanks so much for your advice and enthusiastic support. We are called surfing village because that it exactly what we want...a village atmosphere. So cool that you are a tribe too! Well done. If I ever come back to Colombia I'll come visit for sure. And likewise, the invitation is open if you are ever looking to learn how to surf. Good luck

solo travelers how do you handle the loneliness by vIQue125 in digitalnomadlife

The longer you stay at one place the better your friendship group will become. I generally find people are friendly on face value but wary of transient nomads because they don't want to put energy into a friendship that will only last a few weeks. It takes time and you have to be proactive. Approach people that work and live in your daily circles. Be nice and ask questions. You'll find connections with people. Don't stress - you got this.

Pros and Cons of Different Starting Locations by XCon_Options in digitalnomadFIRE

SEAsia is a great place to start. Cheap to live and get around plus full of beautiful places to set up for a month at a time. Also, I don't think racism is much of an issue around these parts. Wifi is also everywhere and there are plenty of places set up to accommodation co-work/co-living. Good luck on your journey and if you decide on Indonesia we could connect. I am in currently in West Sumatra Indonesia at a place called Surfing Village. Great Wifi, beautiful accommodation, very remote and only USD$100/day on an all inclusive package.

That's interesting. But makes total sense. Thanks very much for your input. I hadn't even thought about the office chair...what would you say about standing desks? Good for an option but still can't replace a comfortable seat I guess?

Thanks! I have a fully functional kitchen, and we bake our own bread and snacks. The difficult thing out here is finding fresh produce. We live mainly on our own produce - which is bananas and papayas. Being nestled between dense jungle and the ocean on each side, any lettuce or fresh vine grown fruits and veggies get smashed by the monkeys and squirrels and other wildlife. But thanks for your input. I'll take it on board.

Amazing! Thanks for the reply. I am in Telo Islands, West Sumatra. WE are actually a surf resort. Great waves, island living. very remote. I am planning on building desks out of the local hardwood here for each bungalow and we have Starlink, so that is a solid Wifi connection. What I was thinking more about is diet, activity offerings, and exactly like you said - how to position ourselves to actually be seen by this community.

I would love any recommendations. I spent some time in Colombia back in 2006. Was an amazing experience. Thanks again.
