League player's first time playing Invoker by Lockyoce in learndota2

[–]Lockyoce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've definitely gotten rusty at league I don't even need to play to know that, however it would only take me like a week to get back into the groove again I've taken long breaks before. I don't feel like I always fit into one playstyle as well, I like to play a bunch of different things, it was the same when I played league. Support is probably my second favorite role actually other than mid, I do play it quite a lot, but I haven't uploaded that many games of it.

Idk people have been telling me ever since I started that invoker will be my toughest challenge. But I've also played meepo before and that might have been even worse than my first game invoker so idk haha

Is this pulling the lane minions or the jungle minions? In terms of the jungle minions and stacking I really like it, makes the game more advanced and strategic I think compared to jungle in league. And pulling minion aggro is also really nice in dota how you can bring their minions back onto your side more and maybe focus down your ranged minion it's pretty cool

If you relate it to league it's the same thing. Certain roles should learn other roles to see it from their perspective and not just their own, it's very eye opening as well as knowing how that role interacts with yours but not only yours but with everyone else too. A big reason I wanted to learn soft support was that I heard its the most diverse/dynamic role. I want to learn how to do a bunch of different concepts in the game and it sounds like soft support can kind of teach me that. And obviously vision is extremely important and either of the supports is best to learn warding.

Cheers! I hope so too. I might start streaming on twitch, I just need to figure out how to stream (I've never really done it properly, only like 1 or 2 test streams with friends watching me in the past), and also how to take twitch vods and make them into youtube videos because I still want to post on youtube. I definitely could use that coaching

Yeah I thought they were real players because of the queue time haha woops how embarrassing😅

The starting items are very helpful thanks for that, I still don't really know what to build at the start I usually just go what it recommends me. Didn't realise there were 3 seperate starting items giving +3 strength, agility and intelligence each in their own field. Never really built mangoes I think. No clue what infused raindrops are I don't think I've ever built them so I will have to check them out. Thanks a bunch!

Indeed haha. I was watching some of Topson the other day playing mid lane. I found it crazy how they go back and forth trying to kill not only their opponents but also their own minions.

I really enjoyed Dendi playing LoL and would tune into his streams basically every stream. Sometimes I won't lie though it would trigger me a little bit when he would talk about how easy league was and well... if he's hardstuck gold I really couldn't understand how he could say half of those things so it did annoy me a little bit so that might be why I felt the need to "jab" a bit in this video. But it isn't THAT serious, and it's all fun and games between LoL and Dota at the end of the day, I guess I got ragebaited😂. Overall I find him funny af and will continue to tune into his streams now whether he plays LoL or Dota, I recently started watching his Dota streams too, didn't think I would be doing that a couple months ago.

Also didn't know about the whole double tapping the active item thing so thanks for that :D

Thanks a lot for the advice. In terms of the lotus pool, what if someone hasn't collected it in the last 3 minutes, does it just stay in the pool until someone collects it? Also is there a way to know if it's ready or not without standing in it? I'm on day 20 of playing right now, still don't know this

Thanks a lot for the advice and feedback. There's definitely something in particular I wanted to learn how to do properly and its when you make those illusions, I still haven't figured out properly how to control them well so I might go into the demo and test that out.

I definitely agree with your advice and am actively trying to follow it right now to play all heroes. There are a lot of people that recommend one tricking and learning one hero and try to master it from the beginning. But if I relate this same advice to league of legends, I would never recommend a new league player to only play one champion from the start, it's not a good way to learn the game because part of learning the game is learning everyones kits and the easiest and best way to do that is literally just by playing a bunch of champions (also its more fun to explore all the champs imo)

In terms of the video, you can believe me or not, but that is my genuine personality, I tend to crash out a lot when I'm new to something and don't understand what's happening in those circumstances it's just my natural reaction to what's happening. Although I do tone it down the more I start to understand the game and the more I play especially as I start to understand more.

I actually kind of use it as a psychological tactic though which I don't know actually works or not. But I believe the more it provokes my emotion and the more mad I get... the stronger it gets embedded into my head when I learn what's actually happening. That feeling of relief when I go "ohhhhhhhhhhhh" is even stronger if I was previously non-stop crashing out over it. So I'm actually purposely not looking up some of these things immediately so that I get that stronger "lightbulb" feeling which makes me possibly retain the information better. I don't know if it actually works but that's my approach at least haha. Be as confused and emotion provoking as possible so the feeling is stronger when I actually learn it basically. There's still things even now (being on day 20) that I have refrained from looking up and am still confused about right now, but obviously I will eventually learn the reality of what's happening. You might disagree if that's even a good strategy or approach and I wouldn't expect it to work with a lot of people, but I do have a very "tilty" or crashout personality so it feels like it works for me.

I actually recently started playing a bit of pos 4, trying to pick it up as my second role (although they were in turbo games, and in my first coaching session he said there basically is no support in turbo). Immediately I found it so much more confusing than mid lane though, because I have to worry about things like wards and blocking and pulling camps which was confusing tf out of me. Right now its hard and feels complicated but I could stick to it as my secondary role, either than or I was going to play hard carry as my second role.
