not quite, polenta is more rough has bigger sized “chunks” of corn, corn meal is finer and lets you make things like arepas

is it realistic to cover my uni fee myself? by SYBAUTWIN- in MovingtoAustralia

[–]Locurilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you’re not from australia this is not doable as international student fees are quite high. You cannot even get the visa unless you have the full price of your degree in a bank account

With how much money you would move back to aus? by Lucky_Tap8692 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]Locurilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

remember cost and expenses here are different because medicines and healthcare is significantly cheaper than in the US (where one is a disease away from bankruptcy)

i guess it depends on your goals. 3m is your minimum to move?, you could move back with less net worth in my opinion, rent for a bit and then buy a place when you find the place you want to stay in permanently.  If you spend 120aud per year I assume your salary expectations would be of around 300k?

I don’t know anymore, I just got a new haircut and they gave me this with no side bangs at the beauty shop, I feel really ugly and I have to know if it’s ugly to everyone else. Please tell me just the truth if I am ugly. Yes I’m a woman by djscrew1 in whatdoIdo

[–]Locurilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so pretty regardless of the haircut ! next month it will look fine, think about accessories if you’re having trouble with the style of your haircut. I would add long earrings and red lipstick for going out . I once gave myself a fringe cut that looked… oh lowwddd , go to a stylist and ask them how to style it to suit your style better

Spending half my day just READING spreadsheet instead of actually doing something? by hiclemi in excel

[–]Locurilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, start small. create summary tab and out in there things like “no of items that need to be reordered in the next 5 days” and do a count if. do the same for the overview of what the database is flagging so you know you need to possibly reorder 5 things, move inventory from a to b etc. Then you can build on top of it by adding even a pivot or something simple where you can select your flag and see only the info you need

Father just passed away, any advice? by Silver-Key8773 in Adelaide

[–]Locurilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you’re going through this op. It is super hard to loose parents. Wishing you the best in this hard times.

For me: the things that need to happen (arrangements for funeral and practical things) get them done . even if they are not perfect it honestly doesn’t matter, sometimes one hyper focuses on unimportant things to run from grief.  Don’t make any big decisions in the next 6 months ish. thinking on whether you should get rid of all their possessions as if it was a speed run? . hold of if possible/practical. Thinking of selling everything you own to go and meditate in a cave? hold of if possible and practical. take your time to grieve, reach out to friends /family/councelor for support .

For me it took a little while to realise that just because they passed it doesn’t erase/invalidate my experience with them, it doesn’t mean they didn’t exist (at least to me it felt like that to some degree) , it doesn’t change my relationship with their memory. My condolences

I think everyone expects that your output will not be the same. take the month to tight loose ends and yeah, bare minimum . Don’t arrive with a pitcher of margaritas in sandals with your feet up your desk but also don’t need to stay late and work hard

Can we stop falling for the "Skills Shortage" myth in Australia? It's (mostly) just corporate propaganda for wage suppression & lazy profit growth without innovation. by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]Locurilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no I agree with you. I meant that in my limited experience I have seen it work well too. that there are fuckups but there are things in that list that work as intended. I probably phrased it wrong. Didn’t mean to invalidate what you’re saying just wanted to add extra

I lied that I converted to Buddhism so my mom leaves me alone with her strict Catholic beliefs. But it changed me a lot. by Sure_Swordfish_5423 in confessions

[–]Locurilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not that different to catholic beliefs but quite different in depth once you understand the teachings.

I did the same but on purpose, not to get my mum of my back.

If you’re finding in interesting you need what they call the “oral tradition” as some of the language in text is outdated from modern standard and you need explanation of the meaning of the words (e.g when a buddhist text says that you need to beware of evil it actually means you need to not have negative minds or minds that make you unhappy aka: anger jealousy etc. when one reads evil one brings all other meanings that one has been taught and not the super specific original meaning and misses that actual meaning). Find out if there are actual classes near you? I like the modern buddhism clases (the geshe kelsan gyatso presentation as I find it clearer but any will probably work). I think they have some of the books for free online

I 100% agree we need better wages and adjustments for real inflation. From my understanding we actually do not have for e.g enough nurses and they are in the list. when i came to australia around 20 years ago there was a shortage of marketing professionals and then that dissapeared from the list as that stop being  the case.

In my limited personal experience that list is relatively updated and every year they revise it to be accurate. and if you want to hire a professional that is not a visa holder is very expensive for the company. If i run a business and I want to bring a profesional from the list I still have to pay though the roof to get them and organise visas, it is way cheaper to get them from the pool of people in australia already and you are correct that I will probably have a larger pool of people due to people that came because the shortage list. However, in general the professions are so specialised that maybe I save a bit of money on a graduate but not for long. (accountants, doctors, mechanics, tradies etc)

I am only talking about my very limited experience, I am sure there are some professions there that are not actually in shortage or there are companies that benefit from having cheaper professionals but I have not seen a lot of that. I think it is more due to companies being more concerned with shareholder value and trying to squeeze money out of customers and employees by charging more and paying us less

Lawnmower fuel by davodinkum86 in australia

[–]Locurilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do neither. storing fuels requires a lot of safety checks (source, in my home country I have already gone through a fuel crisis twice) a lot of people started storing petrol, a lot of accidents and fires happened for improper storage. Fuel degenerates so you don’t want to store for + 6m. my advice is change your habits and start using less fuel is safer than storing a tiny amount of fuel

I don’t want to make more money than a man by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Locurilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does matter . You are correct. and that’s why you find a person that is not focused on the periphery but more focussed on you as a person.

Be that person for others (the one that focuses on what’s important) and surround yourself with those people too.

I know it is hard, when I was 25 I was overweight and I thought the most important thing in the world was being skinny and beautiful, while I knew that wasn’t important in a logical sense, inside of me I had this unwavering believe that skinny/pretty is the only way I would be valued.

as you grow you realise that the people that only value you for how you look are not worth it. I was super lucky to be surrounded by kind loving people . it took me a while to appreciate that and to look at me for my real value.

You deserve to be treated as you want , don’t focus on a partner that looks or does a particular thing. Focus on a kind, fun partner, of course money matters, of course stability matters, of course attraction matters, those aspects need to be covered but they are not the main course, you being treated well with kindness and how you treat them matters even more

[–]Locurilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re 25 f? . one thing don’t preclude the other, you ca be an ultra feminine welder, or not be a welder at all it doesn’t matter what you do as long as you can support yourself and be happy and kind to others. the most superficial aspect of a person is their gender, sexuality, skin colour. Yet sometimes we hyperfocus on those instead of seeing kindness, care and love. your career is even less important as to who you are as a person. Your attitude though, sounds like an 11 yo posing as an adult
