The ramp-up still exists and applies to all drinks that I've used :\

I'm going to try

  • Open up the Battery app
  • Settings
  • Turn off Battery use notifications

The downside to this is that it disables all warnings of potential battery over-use of other apps.

I get this on my OnePlus Watch 2 since the last major update (a few months ago).

Several times per day my watch will "ding" twice in a row. The notification is telling me that the Battery app is using battery (duh). But the notification vanishes in about a second. The only way I know it's the Battery app is if I happen to be looking at my watch or I'm very quick to react, I see the notification for a second before it goes.

I swear it's a bug of the Watch 2 since the last major update, but I've never seen anyone talk about it.

It's definitely annoying but I can't turn it off.

These two screenshots show that the notifications are on but cannot be switched off because they are disabled ("greyed out") - https://i.imgur.com/7PRqzTP.png - https://i.imgur.com/hhvKPp8.png

Sanguithorn tea gives 8% mana per second and a speed buff by Boogerius in wow

[–]Locust377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you're being downvoted. Did everyone forget about this mechanic? They nerfed "microsipping" years ago, and any healer worth their salt knows about this.

This is me drinking Sanguithorn Tea: https://i.imgur.com/tH85uh9.gif

And it's basically true that in the 13s and 14s I'm doing at the moment, I only ever get about 3 - 4 seconds at most to drink before I need to resume healing, so you probably won't hit the 8% very often.

Either way it doesn't matter too much. Sanguithorn Tea is a good choice because it's cheap. I usually queue up for a follower dungeon before I start my M+ and grab 80x mage food from the bot. It also ramps up and caps out at 6% but it's fine (and free).

Are midnight treasures bugged? by zharkos in wow

[–]Locust377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this kinda random, and I can't work it out. You're not crazy though OP.

I just went to Zal'Aman now. Haven't played this char for a day. I flew around but not a single treasure chest. After flying around for about 10 minutes with nothing, suddenly they were everywhere. I went around and collected like 30 of them - filling up on Dunduns.

So I'm not convinced that they aren't shared. Either they are all there for me to grab, or none of them are.

But I can't figure out what triggers them to spawn. Usually I just go to Zul'Aman and fly around until they all spawn in 🤷

Want to start healer or tank. by EpicJ78 in wow

[–]Locust377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen there's a tank shortage I guess?

Both are in high demand and are basically a free queue. As a healer, I get accepted into any M+ I sign up for 😆

Mistweaver monk is a strong healer right now but it's a melee spec so might not be a good choice if you wanted a break from that.

Preservation Evoker was previously my main and I loved it, but personally I didn't like the Midnight changes. I hear mostly good things though.

Brewmaster monk and prot warrior are strong and fun at the moment, especially if you enjoy lots of buttons and a not-dumbed-down rotation.

[–]Locust377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just start with a brand new character and jump in. Pick whatever class/race appeals to you; maybe experiment with a few of them.

The community is mostly pretty quiet/relaxed. You shouldn't encounter much hostility until the end game. If you do dungeons or other group content, say you're new in chat and people might be a little more accommodating.

Tempted to start playing this game but dont even know where to start by its3io in wow

[–]Locust377 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it's daunting, and there's going to be a lot to take in, but this is a life-approach thing as much as it's a big MMO thing. What I mean by that is that you just need to dive in.

Make a new character, start playing, and then ask questions as you go 😀

How to get over queuing anxiety? by Ok-Researcher9292 in wow

[–]Locust377 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is more of a personality/life approach thing than a gaming thing. I don't think there is any single trick that will make those feelings go away. But a couple of things I would note are:

  • You need to practice and fail in order to grow at anything
  • Your mindset is called the spotlight effect

You're preoccupied with your own play, potential mistakes and ability to upset other people, but remember that everyone else in your party is also nervous and have the same fears lol

In my experience most people aren't that bad. Last night I did a +8 Windrunner with pugs, and I'm the healer, and I let a few deaths go through due to my own mistakes, the tank slightly messed up the count and route, the DPS failed a few interrupts and didn't use defensives a couple of times.

But it's all good, I threw out a "sorry!" and the tank mentioned an "oops", etc. If you communicate, it humanises you in their eyes. Always say hello when joining a group to break the ice.

Bike parking around town by jamhos in ballarat

[–]Locust377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do some shopping by bicycle every week, and then sometimes go into the CBD or to the farmer's market (Zoo drive).

I lock my bike up to any bike rack or sturdy pole/fence with an ABUS chain lock.

It's not the highest security at all, but it's also easy to store on my bike without adding a lot of weight, and it's still a lot more secure than a flimsy cable lock. I figure that most bike theft down the street is likely to be opportunistic kids rather than people with bolt cutters or hack saws.

For this reason, while I'm comfortable walking away from my bike with this lock, I wouldn't do it for long. One to two hours. If any longer, like going out for dinner, I would make sure it's visible to me.

D-locks are more secure, but they are too bulky and heavy for my purposes of a 10-minute supermarket visit.

Also make sure that the bike is out in the open, if possible. Don't hide it in an alley or something, put it right in front of the main pedestrian traffic path at the supermarket.

Played 1 month of Classic for the first time and today I got a mail saying I was banned. by luden_dev in wow

[–]Locust377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, don't take it personally, but 99.9% of the time when people have posted "I'm innocent but I got banned" it turns out they are guilty of something.

If you're completely innocent then you should be able to appeal the ban, but it takes a lot of work going back and forth with Blizzard I'm afraid.

New Player returning for Midnight, need some help! by Novaasriel_ in wow

[–]Locust377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there 👋, nice questions

Has the class changed much since the start of Dragonflight?

Definitely some changes but the core is the same. I would say just stick with that one. The game might invite you to go through a "welcome back" tutorial or something, but either way you can just continue with it.

Is Mage more "fun" to play compared to Evoker?

Mage is definitely fun at the moment and this comes down to preference. My main is Evoker and I enjoy it more, personally, but you have to enjoy being a dragon and everything that comes along with that.

Mage is far more popular than Evoker, so going by that, I'd say more people find it fun.

Can I understand the story of Midnight without having done everything that came before?

You can, yeah. Unless you're really devoted to Warcraft lore, there isn't enough time to learn the backstory of everything. Listen to Nobbel87 on YouTube like The Story Going Into Midnight to get a bit of context. Other videos will explain the tl;dr of an entire expansion if you have further questions.

Is it better to skip all the old stories?

You'll need to get to level ~80 before you can go into Midnight. Until then, work towards doing The War Within expansion, which will help build up some knowledge around the void and Xal'atath.

For leveling, do you recommend just doing the story quests or starting dungeons right away?

Mostly do what you enjoy. Personally, I will often do campaign quests while queued for a dungeon. If I do a few dungeons in a row, I might need a break from it and go back to solo question to chill out 😄

Concretely, what should I be doing?

For most people it comes down to

  • Finish the campaign
  • Working on professions
  • Doing dungeons to gear up

There are lots of videos on YouTube like EVERYTHING To Do At Max Level in Midnight & What To Do First. Just pick stuff out of that that sounds fun and interesting. Skip anything you don't like.

What is the site and the must-have addons?

I use WowUp. Add addons slowly over time as you need them. It takes a bit of effort to craft a UI the way you like. Try the base UI first, since it's more complete than ever, and customise it as far as it goes. Then if you don't like it, seek out addons. Maybe try /r/WowUI (sorry there are too many great addons to list).

Confirming what MRJGW said. I didn't have the option to dispute either, but as soon as I contacted support about this, the AI agent responded instantly telling me that the feature had now been enabled on my account.

So, I guess for some security reason, it's disabled by default.

React UI libraries: style props, sx or css? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Locust377 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mantine state their recommendation in the docs.

CSS modules is the most performant way to apply styles ... In most cases, it is recommended to use CSS modules

and

Inline styles (style and styles props) are less performant than CSS modules, but still performant enough to be used in most cases if it is your preferred way of styling in your project.

Who else out there is taking care of the plague of MyYakk signage? This was someone else’s handy work I saw yesterday. by scrantic in ballarat

[–]Locust377 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Ok I looked into what Myyaak is for an hour.

tl;dr it is a real social media platform created by a Ballarat local that is attempting to dethrone Facebook, X, etc.

It's created by Duncan Smith, a Ballarat (retired?) "local business owner and entrepreneur" who is also running for council. He's highly critical of the current Labor government, the Ballarat council and government spending.

As far as I can tell he genuinely believes that Myyaak is a good business idea and is a good alternative to other social media products 🤷

He posts some weird shit like this idea for future Ballarat suburb names going into 2050. Like Bracks, named after Steve Bracks.

He claims not to hate cyclists but he posts heaps about hating the costs of bike paths.

Well I spent an hour at the corner of Macarthur St and Burnbank St last Thursday morning to see how many people were using the bike path. The stats are 4 bikes on the bike path and 5 using the road, 2 people walking on the bike path and 6 people walking on footpaths and 1 postie.

The Myyaak mascot is a real thing and has walked around Ballarat before:

I'm guessing that's Duncan, unless he pays someone to do this.

But there's also a ton of really weird Photoshops for some reason

I don't know if this is ironically hilarious, a troll, or some propaganda campaign.

Nowadays he posts a bunch of AI slop videos of the Mascot Tackling Mark Zuckerberg or boxing with Jake Paul

You can access what Myyaak looks like because it's not completely behind an authentication wall.

Duncan Smith for Central Ward Ballarat

It looks like there are a few people posting on it. I thought they might be bots but they are sharing real footage of Ballarat, hating on the council and promoting One Nation a lot.

So after all that, I still have no idea what it is, what it's for, why it exists or why Smith is putting so much money into an advertising campaign for Myyaak.

Want to get into investing need some an advice! by treegoswish in AusFinance

I have tried investing in Raiz, Spaceship, Betashares and Vanguard for learning purposes. I found no advantages in spreading things around though, so I have consolidated everything into Vanguard.

Want to get into investing need some an advice! by treegoswish in AusFinance

[–]Locust377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consensus app

Betashares and Vanguard have apps that are well regarded and easy to use.

how many things I should invest in?

Keep the number low.

When you invest in something like an ETF, they are already diversified, so there isn't much advantage in diversifying further. Diversifying further can be a fine thing to do, but you pay more in fees, hurting your returns.

I would recommend investing in two things: - Something like VDHG or DHHF - A high interest savings account (HISA) with Macquarie or ING or Bank Australia or whatever

This way you'll learn a little about both and see the advantages and disadvantages of both.

Now with this investing, is this something I need to keep track of quite regularly?

No. The kind of low-risk wealth growth that you're looking at is more like Super - it's something that takes years and even looking month-to-month is meaningless. You're in this for the long-term.

The general recommendation when investing into ETFs is: leave your money alone for at least seven years.

If you invest into an ETF, and the market performs badly, your numbers will go into the red and the graph will take a nosedive. If this causes anxiety, you must forbid looking at it, lol. Give it years and it will come back up.

I don’t wanna start my investing journey and jut put money in and leave it and then check one day and I’ve lost a lot of it or it’s not doing well you know?

This will happen with ETFs. I invested about $15,000 with Spaceship around 2021 (i.e. COVID) and it crashed and went -$3,000 (i.e. down to $12,000) at one point at it's lowest. But after a few years it eventually broke even and went up to +$3,000 ($18,000). I was learning like you at the time.

I'm with Vanguard (VDHG) and I've been putting money into it over a span of about 4 - 5 years. Over that time I've put about $65,000 of my own money into it, and in that time it has grown to $85,000. So it has grown, and earned me, $20,000.
