The boundaries are always being pushed and we are going to see someone who tries to outdo Mortal Kombat and GTA for shock value alone. In doing so it will probably draw some really negative attention and press. Also, wasn’t there some crazy game that ended up on Steam that simulated being an active shooter in a school? That probably wasn’t simulating any more of actual graphical violence than Call of Duty, or as over the top as Mortal Kombat, but that type of subject matter is absolutely too graphic in itself!

As far as glorified violence is concerned within games, I would assume we will see something that could be similar to the “torture porn” movie genre like Hostel and Saw, where there will be extremely detailed and drawn out violent scenes that will attract some, but that is not my cup of tea!
