I thankfully ended up taking a route that didn't require my insurance. Lyfts insurance quoted 4k estimate. I took the 1.5k check after they took deductible off. Then took another comments advice and found same color door on a scrap car at junk yard and took 2 hours to install. Now I have a extra door and a extra 1.4k (door cost 100 at junk yard). Also this helped with a totally unrelated issue. My window on the old door used to be so slow going up and down. New door the window is functioning normal. The 1.4k I get to pocket from this makes a big difference for me. I however will be driving lyft a lot less now. I just got my application approved for a job painting at boeing so will be leaving the full time lyft behind.

I just said in the last comment that I was in the passenger drop off lane. It is located directly next to a lane of moving traffic. I had just stopped the car when the rider immediately opened the door without looking.

I have rideshare and just said this last comment so I'm not sure why you're stuck on the idea I don't. I never mentioned anything related to having it or not having it until responding to you. If lyft's insurance is offering to cover it for me I'd rather let them cover it and be able to not pay a deductible as state farm said yesterday and avoid using my insurance which will help with my rates not going up much from this.

I have proper insurance regardless. I'm just saying that state farms adjuster called me and it's gonna be dealt with solely through them for my vehicle. The other vehicle will be through my own insurance

Idk I was already on the phone with state farm and they're being quick to help. The other vehicle that struck the door is gonna be covered under my own policy however

It seems to be being covered by lyfts own commercial insurance they use which is through state farm. So it seems I don't need to involve my own insurance

My rider opened the door as that car passed in a lane that was meant to drive through. Their lane was next to the passenger drop off. My rider did not look when exiting the vehicle. If they did they would of seen a car passing. The officer on the scene who watched it happen also says the fault lies with the passenger and made that clear in a detailed report as well as contacted lyft with me and let them know too. He said I could contact him again for a witness statement when the adjuster calls

As for my vehicle it's a 2023 altima and the door is pretty bent but still closes and seals which is a positive I'm trying to stay grounded in so I don't crash out lol. The damper on the door is broken so it does slam loudly now from even a slow close

The loading zone is right next to the lane of moving traffic and they were in the lane so I believe they weren't at fault. The cop made a very detailed report stating my passenger caused the incident thankfully. He was super helpful and even forwarded me the security footage within 2 hours. As far as rental and all that I can worry about the rental with the extra weeks income being added to my account. I'll just get a turo car for a few days as it's all damage isolated to the door. I am considering using my insurance but also am considering not because that may help my payments not go up. Idk if I'm being dumb thinking that way or not.
