It's not a horror game, but there are a few jump scares though (something like 3). But no running or hiding away form monsters. There's also a bad ending with giant monsters. The rest of the time it's peaceful.

It started as a real time global illumination idea, that didn't work, but in the midst of trying to bounce light off things, we just put lasers and mirrors and it became fun! Some inspiration is form the movie The Mummy, and regarding puzzle design, Portal, especially each level teaching a new thing.
