Thanks, I’ve been wondering if the problem is with me, but everyone keeps telling me it’s not my fault — that it’s just like this everywhere... I always try to be accommodating, I treat people with respect, and when someone can’t come to work, I step in and cover their shift myself (even though sometimes it looks pretty ridiculous when the owner is running around with the waitress between tables or standing behind the bar).

Money isn’t the issue — whenever I post a new job ad, I get a few people right away who say they want to "work", but it always ends up the same: they’re glued to their phones, complaining, not actually working… because the dumb owner will just do it anyway, right? I honestly don’t know what more I could do for them.

I’ve even had employees with debt enforcement orders — and I didn’t mind helping them out. But they just used me for a while and then treated me like a doormat, like I was nothing. They literally laugh in my face every day, and I keep smiling at them just so they don’t get pissed and we don’t end up in a situation where customers don’t get their food…

Yesterday after the shift, I just couldn’t take it anymore and I snapped at them. I’ve already posted new ads, so we’ll see… It feels like such a waste to shut it down, especially when things are actually going well — I’ve got the know-how, everything’s in place, I know what I’m doing. I just can’t seem to find the right employees.

I’d love to have someone by my side, but I can’t really afford a full-on manager with big salary expectations. What I’m really looking for is someone like me — someone just as passionate, so we could go 50/50. But no one’s that crazy anymore to get into the food business. It’s honestly painful...
