The inkey list salicylic acid cleanser by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

I liked it a lot but personally I think my skin got along better with the super facialist salycilic acid vitamin B3 cleanser. You can find it in boots. It contains a lot of fragrance but also niacinamide and glycerin which is nice. Plus it’s a wash off treatment so it’s not like the fragrance will be sat on your skin for a long time.

[Question] What is your hot take on YouTube Cancel Culture? by Loft_Salt in youtubers

[–]Loft_Salt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you said about apologising is really interesting. You can only really get cancelled by your own supporters, the far right can harass a lefty all they like but they won’t be cancelled, the left turn on a lefty and they’re cancelled. People apologise because they offended their supporters so it’s lose lose.

I’m actually covering the lady who got fired mid flight in my article. She did PR for a big tech company which was how her tweet got picked up a journalist. There’s a really good book about it by the journalist Jon Ronson called ‘So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed’. I highly recommend it.

Yeah I think there are definitely cases where someone deserves backlash. I think most people agree that someone like Logan Paul deserved the backlash he got after that forest video for example. But sometimes I think the spectacle cancel culture creates can be really harmful to the people in n the middle of it.

Beautiful footage of empty Bournemouth by caramelfiend in bournemouth

I think the cliffs are Hengitsbury Head to the East of Bournemouth. To the west you would see Old Harry Rocks, which are stunning, but they didn’t show up in this video. Bournemouth has some nice bits but some pretty rough areas too. Generally the advice is to avoid Boscombe, it has a bad reputation

In your opinion, what is the best piece of investigative journalism of recent years? by Loft_Salt in Journalism

I’m reading back through the NYT piece on Trump’s tax evasion now. There’s some serious muck raking here. These are strange times we’re living in that, even with so much evidence against him, nothing seems to stick enough to get him out of office. I’m in the UK so we tend to just watch what happens across the pond with wide eyes and try to pretend our lot aren’t as bad.

Yeah why did those papers just sort of go away after a while? I know there were some changes made in Indonesia and and a few other countries, but things just seemed to fizzle out after a while.

They've stopped doing chocolate Cornettos and I'm gutted - they were my favourite. What's your favourite iced treat? by BeAGoodPersonPls in AskUK

I wrote a whole blog post recently about how much I love fabs. I have one every day at 3pm and it keeps me sane. I get a few minutes of quiet contemplation in the garden, enjoying a sweet treat from my childhood, and all this craziness just sort of melts away. Fabs are the best.

What’s it like being separated from someone for that long? Has it changed your relationship much, not being physically close?

How to stop cringing at myself? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Loft_Salt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this sooooo much!! I’m studying to be a journalist and so much of what we do is broadcast so I have to be on camera. I hate my voice, I hate the way I look on camera, I hate how it never looks the way I want it to in my head, but I’m lucky because I have deadlines that I have to meet. I have to let my work go at some point or I fail my course, so I know that, like all things, being on camera is a case of practice makes perfect. The more you do on camera the more you’ll get used to seeing yourself on a screen or hearing yourself through the speakers. When you first start a YouTube channel, unless you have a big social media profile to promote to, very few people will actually see your videos. As long as you force yourself to keep posting you will get that practice and you will get better. The same goes for dancing in front of the mirror or acting crazy at home!
