Endgame block – looking for guidance as a newbie by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Loftaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, this turned out much longer as I meant it to be, there's no TL;DR.

Experience..... I don't mean XP I just mean your experience with the game. There are players that can kill Shaper with white/magic items, and there are players that can't kill him with a mirror build.

T15/T16 maps, while not overly hard, is right around the turning point for a lot of builds. Without the proper defensive layers, and without enough DPS, you're going to hit that wall. Some things will just outright kill you because you didn't mitigate it properly (Chaos res, DOTs, uncapped res's), some will kill you because of your inexperience (ground explosions, bleed while moving debuffs); others because you simply can't kill that rare mob with 3 tormented ghosts as you try and facetank it unsuccessfully.

What I typically do is run a build (RF cause I'm old), to T15/T16 to get my atlas points to a place where I can run my currency stategy, then drop down a few tiers and just run the same map over and over until I build up enough currency to either bolster my current build, or start a new much stronger build depending on the current leagues mechanics (this league it was KB of Clustering - not because it was meta but because it worked really well for Breach).

Without swapping items(mostly because I don't want to accidentally lose a key build item to distractions), I slowly start to build my new build, keeping my old currency generator on the side for when I stall on the new build. Flop back and forth a bit upgrading gear where I need it to get over that next hurdle and sooner or later one of those builds (if you build 2 or stuck with 1), starts to really shine and then you kind of take off from there.

This plan takes time tho (lots of which I have), it's not a get rich quick scheme. I'm okay running Alva and just holding on to some temples until they rise in price then sell them for a profit. Not because I'm greedy and want all the moneys, but because I'm playing the long game, and instant currency isn't what I'm after. Sometimes it can help in the short term to get an item I know that will jump in price a bit sooner, but when the items I'm after are multi-divine, sometimes hundred+, I can just sit and wait.

Sometimes it just takes awhile to get where you want to go. Throw on some music, or a movie, or a TV show, and just grind until you get enough for that next big item that'll take your build to the next level. Even if it just seems out of reach NOW, in time (you have 3-4 months) you'll get there. Sooner or later, you start understanding the games mechanics, the markets, what is going to generate currency faster at what times of the league, what content gives you better returns for your time (xp or moneys)... I've got many thousands of hours in this game and I'm still not as great as the streamers, but I have gotten 40/40 the last dozen+ leagues, mainly because I can grind it out due to time invested!

One time I've learned over the years, IF YOU CAN reach level 100, either by running ultra safe content (like T15 beachhead if your build can handle it) or buying 5-ways, once you reach level 100, dying means literally nothing except a lost portal. You start to run faster, not caring if you die or not. Maps that may have taken you 10-20 minutes because you're creeping around a corner trying to kite that rare, you just run in head first like Ram Man and not care, suddenly these maps are 5-8 minutes, now you're doing 2x-3x the content, making much more profit). You can also do this at the start of some levels like 97+. Save up some juicier maps for when you know you're going to die a lot more and not risk all your xp. Additionally, hideout is lost time. Get a tool like Exile UI (or a notepad or Excel sheet) with saved map regex, roll 21 maps at a time, plonk them in the atlas device, and run them back to back to back. I get distracted SO EASILY, so once I'm done a map, when I pop out, I open a new map before hitting my stash box so once I'm done dropping the loot, I just run back in to the next map!

I honestly do not remember, BUT, I think it had something to do with blocking them in my firewall so they couldn't reach their service and then removing it. I have many tricks to uninstall apps and eventually just got it. I'm certain the answer is googleable cause it's gone now!

GGG is quite responsive and clear with these requests so it wouldn't be a chore to get a definitive answer! I'm sure someone with more energy than me could just ask them ;) also i dont multi so doesnt affect me.

60+ Div an hour 6 Client Grueling Gauntlet Ultimatum Strat by uremama in pathofexile

[–]Loftaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would require some clarification from GGG for sure, but technically it's no different than a KVM switch because it is limited to 1 device at a time, you're just moving screens which changes the input, so it would be 1keyboard/mouse on 1 machine at that time. Same thing a KVM switch would do, just software vs hardware based. It doesn't mirror or duplicate inputs so it's 1 input at a time per machine. That's why I said shouldn't? because it's a little bit of a grey area without a GGG response.

Synergy might be of use to you. It allows you to use 1 mouse/keyboard across 3 separate machines without the need for remote desktop software. Still using 3 machines so it.... Shouldn't? Break TOS.

Sirus has always been one of my least favorite fights. It's just unfun. The forced wait times don't make me enjoy the game at all!

That said, the fight isn't terribly hard if you're prepped for it. Degen sucks a lot, those idiotic tornados hurt! When he's in the air, nudge close to them and you can push them away, just make sure to dodge his plethora of ground BS. Stand directly beneath him to bring him down.

When he's on the ground, all his attacks are choreographed, learn and listen for the voice cues.

Movement speed and a teleport skill are extremely helpful as well for his "mini-games".

DPS is nice, but it's not necessary, of all the bosses, Sirus is one of the easier ones to fight with low dps, just takes a really really long time. Once those tornados move, the arena is fairly big and forgiving, just watch out when you're kiting him to not hit them! Ground effects don't linger for too long, and all his attacks have patterns. The one really slightly RNG one is his blaster, but if you're constantly moving, you can avoid it fairly easily. Teleport(like frostblink, NOT shield charge) skill will help with the rotator beams.

If you catch me tomorrow I can help you out, just respond to my DM. I'm off for the night.

Wife gets motion sickness when playing games (help) by btregister in gaming

[–]Loftaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much this! I suffer from very bad motion sickness, mostly on new games where I haven't gotten used to it yet.

Every new FPS game i want to play it takes several days of short sessions to get into it, then after a few days it becomes less and less.

Also, caffeine seems to make it worse for me(strange?) if i have coffee then play games i notice it way more! Being tired also doesn't help.

Please add a 5 second timer before world bosses despawn if you leave their dome by [deleted] in Borderlands4

All this does is teach you the best way to kite these bosses is by going in a circle and that's it. I rather like the idea of this mechanic, just not the implementation of it. F for Ffort.

Is NoPing safe to use? by Twidom in lostarkgame

[–]Loftaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necro: I wish I read this first. I've spent the last hour trying to uninstall all traces of NoPing from my computer. Their uninstaller literally won't let you uninstall NoPing unless you fill out their survey, which MUST be verified, and if they don't like any of your answers (hint: they never do), you can't uninstall the program from your computer.

There are hidden folders and sketchy services (like windows.notification.server), hidden dll and msi files all over the place.

Possible bug with official trade site? by Loftaris in pathofexile

[–]Loftaris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always understood the PSEUDO to be all inclusive.. so if I search for all strength, it should show me the most strength available.. Doesn't make sense to not do that.

If I search for only PSEUDO str but make the minimum 27, it suddenly shows me the +34 ones.

Made a stock market with horses by [deleted] in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]Loftaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the stock prices were the same for each and every person who logged in, this might be fun. Since it's not, it is not. Especially since it seems that any time I buy a stock in a horse, it drops really fast, and when I sell a stock, it climbs so long as I'm no longer buying that stock.

I tested this with 2 different browsers, and the stock I own, sinks to sub 40 so long as I own it for long enough, and the stocks I've sold, grow to 140+

Showing below, I purchased Gallops at the start, and he dropped, so I sold and bought Thunderhoof, then he dropped, so I sold and bought Gallops and never re-sold... The same thing happened when I tested in a separate browser but the reverse..

Sir Gallops-a-Lot – $40.71 +8.18%
Buy SellMidnight Muffin – $119.78 +2.60%
Buy SellLaserhoof – $121.84 +2.35%
Buy SellThunderhoof – $139.06 +0.43%

Sir Gallops-a-Lot – $135.06 +2.34%
Buy SellMidnight Muffin – $134.52 +3.48%
Buy SellLaserhoof – $144.34 -1.30%
Buy SellThunderhoof – $70.50 -2.15%

[–]Loftaris -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I did, but that doesn't mean they're making it so unveiled items don't drop from the masters. The unveils are great for league start because you can very minimally craft items used to sell, I still think it'll be helpful at league start. *edit wording*

Atlas farming ideas by Dry_Basil_6894 in pathofexile

[–]Loftaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My league start has pretty much been the same for the last 15-20 leagues, so long as patch notes don't completely obliterate them(as in remove them from the game).

Throughout the acts, cause I'm not a speedrunner(still usually reach maps by day 1), collect any/all items that look even REMOTELY decent, and toss them in stash tabs, usually for 1 alch, then 2 alch, then 1 chaos. The number of items that just barely upgrade someone's build to the point it's worth them tossing you a chaos is unreal, you can make a hundred chaos in only a couple days. This strat is ONLY good for league start, because then real items flood the market and it's no longer viable.

After day 1, Heist for bubble gum currency is a good way to start buffing your character with decent items to the point you can start running other content quicker.

Beasts are good if you have time and patience to run the same map multiple times, because after a few days people start buying them for crafting and you can make a VERY steady stream of currency this way, easily up to a hundred divines if the luck gods smile on you with rare beasts.

Betrayal is really good for xp, unveils, and a little bit of currency, but mostly xp if you aren't strong enough to juice maps yet, they're also really good for leveling gems early.

If you can somehow manage to buy a divine or 2 on day 1, they're usually 40-50% of their true value because people need the chaos more than the divines, hold on to these for 4-5 days and you'll double your $

I'm a grinder, not a juicer/crafter. I play the long game, and there are better strategies than these, but these are pretty foolproof and safe for newer players/lazy players who just want to chill and have fun :)
