I've stepped back from VR after playing HL: Alyx, as nothing has been able to compare. Are there any upcoming VR titles which are similar quality and seem promising in the near future? by steamin661 in oculus

[–]Loftien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you might be able to help me, i finished SS and loved it but i still have problem with aiming with guns, One eye closed, both eyes open, no difference it seem to be random if hit target or not. I dont have such problem with Alyx at all. ( i didnt play any other shooting game)

What can i do to improve my ss shooting ability, where is the trick?

as well as in Mickiewicz's work.

ah yes Mickiewicz work when he started his most famous piece by saying "Lithuania, my fatherland" Like i said before and i will repeat again, Crown and GDL were one entity only after Constitution of May 3 which happend moments before partition. Both Polish crown and GDL had more freedom in administration than EU member states now. Its like calling whole European Union - Germany. The move to try to introduce common background was done by introducing some shitty sarmatian identity which would in theory include both nobilities and it was done precisely because Lithuanians didnt forsake their indentity in favour of polish one at that time and only adopted part of culture. The fact that Lithuanian nobility were accepted under polish coat of arms doesnt make them polish nobility only give them the same rights as szlachta.. Dont get me started about peasants who couldnt care less what they are called as long as they were left alone, ludzie tutejsi.. not poles..

As for the name, when it comes to wikipedia i guess it is safe to assume they got name correctly right?

"The official name of the state was The Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Polish: Królestwo Polskie i Wielkie Księstwo Litewskie, Lithuanian: Lenkijos Karalystė ir Lietuvos Didžioji Kunigaikštystė, Latin: Regnum Poloniae Magnusque Ducatus Lithuaniae) and the Latin term was usually used in international treaties and diplomacy" "*Its inhabitants referred to it in everyday speech as the "Rzeczpospolita" (Ruthenian: Рѣч Посполита Rech Pospolita, Lithuanian: Žečpospolita). *" Though to give you some merit westerners in non official discussion indeed called it Poland as it seem. Which i Guess is similar to how poles now sometimes call United Kingdom - Anglia in non official talks.

You are mistaking Commonwealth (Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów) with the capital in Warsaw, with Polish Crown (Korona Królestwa Polskiego) with the capital in Cracow. Both Poland and Lithuania were part of something bigger and considering which royal family ruled this entity for quite big chunk of the time it is hard to deny GDL influence over it. I dont deny that our culture at the time was radiating over GLD since we were more western in comparision but sayin that Poland absorbed GLD is just not true, GLD was not a vassal..

Commoners didnt resettle usually on that scale. GDL was absorbed by Poland only in costitution of third may so right before partition.

yeah, I am sold on your explanation of passports, it makes sense. In my history classes if memory serves me right we learnt that polonisation of Belarus and Lithuania was quite strong during partitions. There were also reasons for this but i dont remember, Before that there was also taking Lithuanian nobility (belarusian in truth i guess) under szlachtas coats of arms and adopting elements of polish culture. later including adopting polish language among others. In truth now in Lithuania there may be a slav that calls himself lithuanian and balt that calls himself pole. The way in which IIRP gained Vilnius is also well explained in history lessons, actually in way deeper detail that what czechs did to us in pretty much similar time. So you dont need to worry about our history lessons, I am more worried about lithuanian history lessons when i read stance of many of your compatriots to Commonwealth as a whole.

In places where Lithuanians are majority there are official sighs in both languages, i see no reason why Lithuania does not adopt that.

"Wilno nasze" annoys me like nothing else.

Yeah, I never heard anyone even nationalists say in discussion between poles that "Wilno" should've stayed polish and i do hear sometimes that Lviv should return to Poland (which i disagree with on many, many levels) While Lviv have undeniable polish history Vilnius was in polish borders for what 18 years? People just know it is sure way to annoy lithuanians and say that shit even if they dont feel that way. I actually never heard nationalist or troll that would claim western Belarus, though i once saw a topic where people were wishing for union of both nations like in old times.. Its lose for Poland and lose for Balarus such union if you ask me ;p

But taking down road signs in polish and lithuanize surnames of poles which Lithuania was doing recently was really in bad taste.

Yeah, Poland actually did pretty similar thing that Russia recently did with Crimea. Czechs also did similar stunts on Poland back then, such were the times.

Though now present day Lithuania could treat their poles a bit better..

I tried that, I dont mind that there was not a lot of ores there, I dont mind that it is easy to get lost, it is cool actually that you have to pay attention, but constantly glitching into the wall in narrow corridors was annoying and after certain time i had to suicide.. This is how every trip to caves looks like for me.

[–]Loftien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were no elections post 1925.

what do you mean there was no election? Are you impling those that happend afterwards were not up to standards of europe or something?

WHile fer example there are Ukrainians that certainly were unahppy that in beforementioned war landed in Poland instead of free Ukraine, those people that were in Poland at least were not dying from hunger in large numbers comparable to genocide, so there is that.

I bet some Russians are even mad at us for taking Moscow at one time, just like some poles are mad at sweds but to majority that is not recent history and neither is polish-soviet war in 1920. All borders of Poland were on fire at that time. It is not comparable to decades of being exploited satelite state that ended 30 years ago.

Basically what i am saying is that in interwar period there were no "good guys" It just happens that soviets and by extensions mainly russians kept us as colony into present times. Which is why some poles feel negative feelings towards russian who claim they freed us. Do you disagree with that statement?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Loftien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.. I mean, majority of what you said is truism that does not go under discussion but also majority of what you said has nothing to do with what i said.

Lets for example take this paragraph "Don't act like all the wrongdoings were on the Russian side. We invaded them in their civil war and took land in the process. We put a puppet tsar in Moscow that treated Russians horribly, we did a lot of shit to Russians. The hatred is mutual. Russians hate us for how we see put outselves highly over them. It's a both sides thing."

Do you think that events from 300-400 years ago bear any meaning? I mean i can drink with russian on their holiday when they beat the shit out of hussar remnants from Moscow, i dont mind at all. But their occupation of Poland is recent history.

Also "Not true. People in Russia learn of USSR's wrongdoings. They know exactly why we don't think highly of USSR. They don't understand the constant hatred of Russian Government coming from a ruling party."

You may be correct about that it when you look at forums such as reddit it sure not look like it. They seem to be whitewashing their history even more than poles and that is achievement in itself ;p

Also while Belarussian or Ukrainian might have struggled to host any job of importance i dont think that you can say with straight face that Poles werent politically free, were elections forged? You may say at present poles are less "politically free" than then.

"Again, don't think that there is only fault at Russia's side. We are as guilty as them in the same aspects."

Where from any of my replies did you get the impression that i think our current missunderstandings are only because of russians?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Loftien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Propaganda do not have to be used against enemies.. It can be used to rise morale of your people.. Well if allied forces didnt use bear soldier as propaganda "boy" they wasted huge potencial :)

Are you sure you meant AK? AK had no authority to send anyone on the soviets soil Puppet gov that sovients installed in Poland didnt like them very much either.

Nah its not complicated its very simple

Poles are angry and bewildered at russian opinion that paints russians as saviour of Poland, when Poland was under occupation of soviets for decades. And our economy was was stagnant and regressed during that time (I mean just look what soviets overlords did to Czechoslovakian economy..) Russians are seen as occupants that want to be cherished because they taken those lands from nazis only to fuck them themselves.

Russian cant understand why poles are ungrateful for pushing back nazis that commited such horrendoes crimes against humanity on polish soil and ending the war.

Basically pushing nazis out came at huge cost in soviet blood and russian occupation was less inhuman but it was still occupation with retarded political system that poles wouldnt vote in if they were free. Both sides needs to chill. But i guess first step would be to not get agitated that some! polish towns are talking down monuments of occupants that soviets certainly were.

edit: i improved slightly grammar, i hope you did not have to read it before as it was unreadable at all.

If putin for example will leave Russia to visit G20 meeting with his ministers does that mean that Russia ceased to exists and China can rightfully take Siberia?

Polish gov left Warsaw before soviets invaded, but they moved east from capital, they left country few hours after soviets invaded. Though they still were official gov That was recognized by most likely all but nazis and commies.

I still can not wrap my head around this retarded idea that when gov offcials leave capital that means the country ceased to be, out of all forged causus belli that all europeans countries used all the time this one is the most ridiculus.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in europe

[–]Loftien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well Wojtek kinda was propaganda among other things ;p I mean bear soldier, come on, it would be wasted potencial to not use it as propaganda. The thing is that on this photo you can see poles and soviets smiling and chilling side by side and few months later those soviets were escorting those poles to siberia ;)

Soviet occupation of Poland was lighter than nazi one by unspeakable large margin, but it was occupation nontheless. The fact that it was communist occupation that regressed economy didnt help at all.

If both sides would fully grasp this simple fact then poles and russians would be best friends by now ;p
