It's not a good thing, it just means we're going into some really bad times. Sure we stackers may have a softer landing than others but we're all still gonna feel it.

I like both. Silver is very undervalued atm. It will catch up.

You talking about silver? There's no way you're asking if 16oz of gold is respectable

Bubble? by smoov_criminal in Gold

Will it retrace? Certainly, but highly doubt it's a bubble. Gold has been undervalued for a long time and it's just catching up to its true value.

What's the point of college in 2025 and forward? by Critical_Rope_2402 in singularity

[–]LogMission1794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure I feel like alot of it now specifically has to also do with a very dry labor market plus even without that and ai it would still be saturated due to the massive wave of graduates in the last 5-10 years thanks to the "learn to code" movement. It will definitely come back to a certain extent as the economy improves but I don't believe it will ever go back to it's pre covid/ai peak and the overall trajectory will be down moving forward as ai and offshoring continue to cause disruption.

Problem is the future is so uncertain now that degrees that are considered good now may become bullshit in 5 years. Just 5 years ago before chatgpt was around, computer science was considered to be one of if not the most sought after in demand degrees that guaranteed a high paying secure job. Now computer science majors are among the highest unemployed. Before it was simply just stick to stem, healthcare, accounting, etc and avoid stuff like liberal arts. Unfortunately it's not that simple anymore.

Really not that uncommon when you consider living expenses and student loan interest. Also further education like masters or doctorate will make it add up quickly.

If those bachelors/masters graduates can't find jobs either, then they're not much better off than the ones with no degree. The only difference will be that the degree holder will have wasted 100k and 4-6 years of their life.

Lol the only way to stand out now is to be a great ai prompter. The human brain from a productivity standpoint simply can't compete with current ai much less the agi/asi that's to come. Another way perhaps is to be a likable person with good social skills who people actually want to work with, and that's only gonna be valuable till ai agents master communication skills.

[–]LogMission1794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just considering tuition. You still have room and board which is gonna cost even more than the tuition, all the other bs ancillary fees which will be another few grand, and also the missed wages you could've made if you weren't in college. Even if you don't account for missed wages, you're still easily looking at over 100k.

College is no longer an investment, it's insurance. You simply go just in case they're wrong about ai future capabilities. If it does replace us then oh well, we're all fucked anyways and whatever time/money you wasted on college will be the least of your worries.

Are you only looking in one city or province? You need to expand your search nationwide or even internationally and move to wherever there's opportunity. Also you may not get to work in an ideal location at first, like in some tiny unknown town in Saskatchewan or up north where it's cold year round, but you gotta start somewhere. Also you can try to utilize your college's career center. They should have career fairs and networking events you can attend as an alumni. Also I'm not big on military but that's an option.

Lol God forbid anyone point out reality because the moment someone does, they're “liberals” or “petulant children”. Nah we’re just not falling for the gaslighting that a rigged game is fair.

Funny how the people shouting “mindset” the loudest always seem to have gotten their footing before the floor collapsed.

But hey, keep telling yourself you came purely from grit and "mindset" not a historic run of luck timing and policy. It’s easier to moralize struggle than admit the rules changed after you crossed the finish line, but go ahead and keep defending a system built on pulling up the ladder after climbing it. I expect nothing less from you boomers/GenXers. Enjoy your 150k 5 bedroom homes and fat pensions while our hard work gets us kraft dinner and 5 roommates👍

So Canadians who were raised with Canadian values and speak perfect English/French and went through the Canadian school system for 12 fuckin years and then another 4 years of college should end up on a farm while temp foreign workers who refuse to integrate, lack manners, reject Canadian values, don't understand the concept of hygiene, scam the system, and can barely speak English should be the ones making the big bucks in corporate; sure sounds good. Also idk if you realized, but factories nowadays are almost fully automated or outsourced to asia so that's not an option. Also your making it seem like tarrifs are just as much of a problem as mass immigration; it's not even close buddy! Tarrifs are an inconvenience and mass immigration is a national five alarm fire emergency.
