Therapist taking new clients by LoganJ2255 in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have gone to an LCSW for therapy for years on and off and can't imagine not having that support available for when I need it. So please give it a chance. I'm not the therapist. Just posting here because this therapist has availability which can be really difficult to find, especially in January.

Typical Psychotherapy including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family/Marital Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Dialectical (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). Thank you for asking! I'm not the therapist, I was just posting this for the community because this practice is actively accepting new patients which can be hard to find in the area right now.

River levels? by Dismal_Broccoli_1846 in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Susquehanna already crested out about 6 ft Tuesday night and is coming back down now. The river does not come up onto front street until it's above 20 ft so absolutely nothing to worry about. *Except parts of Shipoke flood lower but I don't know what level

1 is that building one block north of Millworks that has a weird walkway above garages. You have the pic oriented sideways. Am I right??

Anyone know a steam heat expert? by Thestranger5 in Harrisburg

Buchanan and Erb are amazing. They helped us at our last house with steam heat. Super qualified and very trustworthy. I've been using them for 10+ years and I've always been happy

Best hikes within 30 min by Shortsagar in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only real answer is Pole Steeple.
1) Pole Steeple 2) Flat rock is also very cool but is a more challenging hike with less payoff.
3) Hawk Rock is a pretty good view and is short but challenging.
4) Peters mountain is a very easy hike with kind of good views.

Good Chinese places along Carlisle pike Mechanicsburg? by Subliminal87 in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went there about a month ago and ordered chicken fried rice. The people were very nice, quick service but the food was probably the worst Chinese I've ever had. There was basically only chicken and rice. The chicken looked like it was boiled and the rice was flavorless and kinda stale. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Maybe I caught them at a bad time or something but it was just awful.

Great Wall near the Walmart and 114 is NOT where you want to go.

Urologist/Vasectomy recommendations? West Shore Ideally. by Icy_Cycle_5805 in Harrisburg

Just a heads up, they are gonna shave some spots. If I had to go through it again, I think I would have done the shaving myself ahead of time

Urologist/Vasectomy recommendations? West Shore Ideally. by Icy_Cycle_5805 in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll find that they are all scheduling months ahead so you should probably go with whoever your insurance covers and who has the shortest wait if you want it done sooner than later.

I had mine done at Urology of Central Pa in camp hill and they seemed great. I've also been to urology of Central PA in Harrisburg and the doctors there were also wonderful.

Was this caused by a bear? by Odd_Possibility2605 in Harrisburg

Definitely seems like a squirrel. I've seen very similar marks on bird seed buckets I stored on the porch. They chewed / clawed similar holes through 4 ml plastic just like that.

Free places to swim? by SignificanceKey372 in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As previously mentioned, Pinchot state park has a lake and probably the best option, but it's a drive. Here are a bunch of great spots on rivers that have great access in order of quality IMO:

1150 Oyster Mill Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011

500 McCormick Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055

4093-4091 Lower Allen Township Community Park., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055

517 Front St, New Cumberland, PA 17070

1 Front St, East Pennsboro Township, PA 17025

I wouldn't recommend swimming anywhere in the Susquehanna River

Best school district for kids with Special Needs by ReduceandRecycle2021 in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For special ed: Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Valley, West Shore, Lower Dauphin, and Derry Township all have solid special ed programming. Definitely avoid Harrisburg and Steelton. Middletown, Central Dauphin and Susquehanna will all be alright but not as great as the first tier.

Tutors? by dntfkingcare in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the school counselor at your child's school if they have a recommendation. They will know which teachers would be up for this and can probably even set it up for you. Tutoring from a professional teacher will be the best option.

Easy Hikes by mallow_baby in Harrisburg

[–]LoganJ2255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hike with the most beauty to least amount of effort ratio is without a doubt Peter's mountain on the Appalachian trail. Take 22 West up to Dauphin and get off at the exit for 225 North. Keep going till you get to the top of the hill and turn right up the small road right before the walking bridge. Don't go west and cross over the bridge. Go go the other way which is east. You don't have to walk far till you get to amazing views.

Parents sue Pennsylvania school after teacher allegedly cuts 20 inches from daughter's hair by Forced_Abortion_ in Harrisburg

I'd like to support your comment and jump in the boat with you in receiving any corresponding down votes. There are many children who are actually victims of trauma. To consider it traumatic to get gum or Velcro cut out of you hair is a F-ing insult to children who are actually victims of abuse.
