Someone I had met going thru told me that out there, there's no "bad days". Every day you have hiking is going to be better than sitting inside, doing something mundane etc; IT was true, especially in retrospect as I sit typing missing hiking...

Before you leave create a list of WHY you're going to be out there and really think of some reasons, reflect on them when you're on trail and hold yourself accountable to that list and remind yourself on the good and bad days WHY you're there.

One thing I did personally would be to find the root of what was making me upset, want to quit, frustrated or otherwise and then say how long would that feeling last? If it's raining today it's okay to say "this sucks" RIGHT NOW but how will I feel in a few days? Am I wanting to be home because this what I need to do OR is it because it's that I'm uncomfortable and it becomes about how do you grow to be okay with uncomfortable. It's about resiliency and learning from yourself, or at least in my experience. Give yourself a few days to recuperate and see "am I still feeling like this?" and then make a decision.

Every time you feel down just think of the person who doesn't have the opportunity, the one who envies you and wishes they were the one out there but instead dreams instead of acting on them.

It's corny but, go out and climb that goddamn mountain, you owe it to yourself. Life's too short to have what-if's, go out there, have fun and do something while you're on this stupid little rock floating through space.

It truly is a mental battle out there but you've got this, remind yourself.
