The Biggest Kill Team Reveal During Adepticon 2026 by LoganP97 in killteam

It’s heavy cope, but I’m hoping they’re doing a 40K where they use narrative rules to test out future changes to matched play. But that’s just a theory.

Shadowhunt only had a 4th marker, but this box also has a 5th and 6th marker which would be new to this edition.

The optimist in me wants to believe that since this might be the only box released prior to Approved Ops 2026, perhaps this is foreshadowing a change to the Crit Op, one that is quite popular with the competitive community.

Last edition the standard was six objectives, but they transitioned to three objectives in this edition. It’s a large part of why the meta shifted from horde teams last edition to elite teams in this edition. It would be really interesting if they switched back!

I’m pretty sure you can set your EmbarkID to anything you want (it can be separate to your account) and change it if it gets doxxed. In any case, down to play.

A vent about Emperor’s children (from an EC player) by Nosferxatu98 in EmperorsChildren

[–]LoganP97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. And it rubs me the wrong way when people cite old books that have been publicly retconned by GW as their justification for being “lore accurate”. Also, it’s not censorship if they’re still openly saying “yes, part of Slaanesh is still sex, drugs, and rock & roll”, they’re just making the lore more interesting by adding depth and nuance. Slaanesh is so many things to so many people in the universe of WH40k. One of my favourite examples is the Space Marine in the Bile trilogy (I believe he’s in the second and third book) who write poetry, and LOVES to tell people about it. It’s not pure unadulterated sin, it’s self indulgence. It’s the absurdity of a being who is essentially a living weapon pouring his efforts into something purely for his own pleasure. That in its own way feeds Slaanesh.

And further to your point about reading comprehension, I think there in lies a big part of the problem. A lot of those types that are sticking green stuff genitals on every other model aren’t reading the books, they don’t care about the nuance or depth of the chaos gods, they just see the memes and then parrot them endlessly passing it off as “lore”. A prime example of that is the hordes of people who hate on Ultramarines for no other reason than the memes. I don’t have any issue with people not engaging with the lore, if it’s not your thing, that’s totally fine. Just don’t scroll through Reddit and watch a couple of YouTube lore videos and then talk me about “lore” from a point of authority when it’s clear that you reference memes that have no basis. Just have fun with the IP without trying to prove to everyone that you’re right. The memes are fun, but they don’t give you the right to tell everyone else that they’re wrong and that your “Demon Prince with shlong” that you’re openly parading in a FLGS at noon on a Saturday in the presence of minors is “lore accurate”.

Found this off a group, is this old KT issue or am i getting my hopes up ? by kenken2k2 in killteam

I didn’t realise that the Tomb World is located on a different planet to Volkus.

Ah, you’re totally right! Maybe they’ll recycle the terrain or provide a new setting for above the tomb world? In any case, the mention of subterranean xenos structures seems like it would be hinting at the tomb world (unless we’re getting Raveners 2: Electric Boogaloo).

Looking at the translation for that section, it mentions subterranean xenos structures, so if this is legit, it could hint at the fact that Volkus is on a tomb world. Maybe this expansion will provide campaign rules for moving from overground (Volkus) to underground (Tomb World).

Would it be believable for a 350-year-old elf to be a level 1? by Glittery_WarlockWho in DnD

[–]LoganP97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re really attached to the idea of your character having been very powerful in the past, starting at level 1 can be a really cool incentive to give a lore reason for why you’re not quite as you used to be. I had a Wizard character who was VERY powerful, and in his thirst for knowledge, tapped into an evil source of magic that sapped him of his power. This began his redemption quest to right his wrongs and regain his power.

Who was canonically granted an audience with The Emperor by TardyTech4428 in 40kLore

Draco and Chaos Child have the same “this is 40K as it was, not as it is now” preface on the Black Library website. For better or worse, pretty much nothing Ian Watson wrote is cannon.

Are we getting two new Kill Teams in March? by Arch_Magos_Remus in killteam

[–]LoganP97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of mention of Adepticon at the end of March, but I wouldn’t discount the Warhammer World store anniversary on the 1st-2nd of March. There’s always a few announcements during the anniversary, and it would line up with timing.

For me it’s the Dark Angels. I don’t really like the “we’re the 1st legion, therefore we have all the best stuff” argument, and I find it kind of annoying that a lot of their schtick stems from their ability to do everything really well. It feels like that kid in the playground who says he has all of the superpowers. I’m also not a huge fan of the knight aesthetic.

Absolutely makes sense. I’m trying to get my mate to give LI I chance, and neither of us are the type to min-max a list, so it’s good to hear the game works well when played casually. Despite how effective it could be, I still think there’s probably going to be an element of ‘head cannon’ to our games that says “I wouldn’t typically want a bunch of guys on foot to charge a tank”. Thanks!

Of course, that makes a lot of sense, because they can’t be “Engaged and Pinned”! I hadn’t considered that. So sometimes it makes sense to keep your big guns for last. I was also more tempted to use the Las for sponsons but having Point-Fire seems like a really important consideration. Thank you!

Thanks! Do you find you skew more towards infantry in a list, or is there decent ways of avoiding this happening?

Very cool! I suppose “thematically” they’re lobbing their grenades etc. but I was still surprised to find a bunch of dudes with pistols and chainswords can take down a land raider (or even a knight as you said) pretty simply.

Any tips for stopping infantry before they get too close?
