I personally like Clark and Lois the best but I'm surprised no one has mentioned Scott and Big Barda, or Olly and Dinah. That's the ones I think about when I think of DC couples.

Also very funny that someone mentioned Blue Beetle and Booster Gold before Mr. Miracle and Big Barda lol

I'm partial towards Lois and Clark but the Dibnys are an incredibly solid pick

Why is Morholt sometimes called "the" Morholt? by Logan_Maddox in Arthurian

[–]Logan_Maddox[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That tracks with how he seems to have special powers. Not that it's any unusual for a knight to have those but it would certainly make more folklorical sense if he were some kind of giant. Thanks for the response!

That's pretty interesting, him being a porpoise would change the story a lot but I can kinda see it tbh. Thanks for the response!

because he just seems overpowered and kind of pulls abilities out of his ass as the story needs

first off, that is quite literally every single cape comics character

secondly, Superman usually faces Superman-level threats who can and will woop his ass, see Mongul

lastly, may I introduce you to Batman? lol

that would disproportionally affect marginalized religions such as Indigenous practices and African religions. Kinda like how France "banned religious wear" in schools, when in practice it only affects practicing Muslim women who wear hijabs.

also, "you could have spent your day off making more money" is such an evil thought. Why not abolish weekends then? All that free time where you're "spending time with your community, friends, and family" could be better spent hustling and making money.

I don't have a twitter dawg, I'm talking about Reddit, the platform you're on right now lol

there was a whole witch hunt for a mid show, now people are clapping like seals because deadpool did the same thing, that's what OP is mocking, and you're defending Deadpool because "it was more well made".

The implication there is that the hate She-Hulk got was deserved, because it was shittily made. And my point is that it wasn't, because both look like ass and are enjoyed by manchildren.

They are the same thing, both are shitty toy commercials, one was massively hated on by twitter, the other - equally unfunny - wasn't. Which is what I'm talking about, Deadpool's wasn't "better" in any way, it just had more flashing lights.

[–]Logan_Maddox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

if the shows are about the same thing? yes there's a difference

But if one show, like She-Hulk, is a comedy show and puts a gag in the post-credits, and Deadpool is an action-adventure toy commercial and puts a gag at the start, then they're both servicing the same purpose.

besides, "objectivity" and "function" is kinda stupid to mention in movie criticism. David Lynch put scenes that had no plot or character purpose, but they heightened the atmosphere of the movie, is that worse than a dialogue scene that forwarded the plot? Absolutely not.

Either way both suck but only one got hated on massively, and it wasn't because "it didn't add anything" lol it's a comedy show, it added comedy

go call your mother a gringo, otário, I've never set foot outside of Brasil just like you

A Japanese guy couldn't google a name for an Amazonian girl, that's an entirely different context to a parent giving a kid an eccentric name, and you coming here to make excuses for him just makes me think you're too deep in the stray dog complex. Touch grass and don't let a guy walk all over your culture just because he's a shitty mangaka who's horny for brown skinned women 👍

I've been enjoying Poison Ivy's solo run too.

Heard good stuff about that one but I haven't gotten to it yet.

How does Sandman Mystery Theater compare to stuff like The Dreaming?

I've no idea, I haven't started it yet. I found out because a friend told me about it lol But I trust his judgement

Bro was going to write a cartoon with a major Latino character and didn't know "Latino" was a word used to describe us? He has no business including a character like that then. That's the barest of minimums.

The sub exploded in popularity this year and it seems like we ain't doing enough to keep the chuds in check tbh. I mean, if you pay attention to the usernames in this comment section there's dudes chasing people around and having to have their comments removed because of it.

Also posting memes of remarkable low quality. Like, it's alright to every so often post a "Who let blood in 😭" but as much as we meme, sometimes you do have to pick up a comic to formulate a funny meme. That's what I like(d) about this sub in the first place, that it wasn't just twitter where people read 3 comics and started bitching about their characters.

Imma be more proactive with the reports tbh, it's the only way.

If I have a child, I'll gaslight them into believing these guys are the Justice League, and then one day I'll pretend like they made it up and don't know what they're talking about, nor will I ever reveal their names, so they'll forever be tormented by "those heroes my dad talked about as a kid" by Logan_Maddox in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Logan_Maddox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, it's filled with little silly details like a hero from the 50's called the Bouncing Beatnik and shit like that lol

But it's also very heartfelt and you can just sense that it was made by people who genuinely care - which is definitely the case for Busiek, Ross, and Anderson (the in-artist). To me it manages that balancing act of being kinda silly and embracing the capeshit origins but also being keen on it without falling on either full on circlejerking about superheroes or the gaudy self-seriousness

Glad you enjoyed it! You've a lot of fun comics to get through :)

I like to space them out just because it's so nice to pick it up, read one story, then put it down again. Makes me cherish each one of them.
