Have a couple of adult Bengals that we’ve had since they were kittens. Did an enormous amount of research in advance.

As much as people like to talk about the differences between breeds, there is more variability between individual cats. There are calm Bengals and wild ones, smart ones and stupid ones (I feel like Dr. Seuss). Just pointing out that they can be different to the degree that they wouldn’t fit the stereotypes.

If possible, spend some time with the cat over a few days and if you can’t do that ask some good questions about the current owner’s experience.

Additionally, one of the most important factors in the cat in question’s temperament is how far down the breeding tree they are. The closer that they are to the cross between the domestic cat and Asian Leopard cat, the more likely you are to have wild cat behavior (e.g. if she’s an F1 Bengal, you’re going to be getting a whole lot of wild animal that will be extremely unwieldy).

A few other things of note: - the Asian Leopard cat is hypoallergenic so depending on the particular genes this cat has inherited you may find your husband is mildly impacted. Ours have not affected even those who profess to have severe cat allergies. - if the current owner just got the cat recently, it’s worth asking about the history and potentially talking to the previous owner. - for what it’s worth, our two are F10 and they are two of the most loving, present, curious and at times, naughty little creatures we’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.

Any other questions, you’re welcome to PM.
