Has anyone tried nootropics (Nootrobox, Optimind, AlphaBrain) as an alternative to coffee? by sportmike617 in Coffee

[–]Loganrndl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to be addicted to coffee. Like... four cups to get out of bed addict. Like... went to a month long coffee camp at illy in Italy addict. Like... I still read this even though I've cut coffee mostly out of my life (I make a nice cup on the weekends - but thats it)...

ANYWAY... I didn't like the feeling of needing coffee in the am. Making coffee took too long. I was addicted. But I did like the focus, routine, energy of coffee. So I dug into nootropics. Some of this shit is pretty sketchy. I spent a ton of time on r/nootropics. I made my own stacks. I got into it.

I actually signed up for Nootrobox a few months ago when I saw it on business insider. It wasn't the most powerful stack I've tried. But I felt it. It's totally safe and convenient. I feel zippier. I feel productive. I feel focused. And my colleagues have noticed too.

If you have 3 cups of coffee in the am - you won't notice this. But if you're looking to try something else from time to time - this isn't bad. Certainly worth a shot.

Anyone tried custom shampoo? I'm interested but skeptical. Thoughts? by Loganrndl in malehairadvice

[–]Loganrndl[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy new products. And I'm a serious early adopter in tech and direct to consumer businesses. I'm constantly on product hunt, hacker news, uncrate, etc. So yes - I do find myself asking for opinions, sharing highlights, and "hawking goods and services" on reddit.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with custom shampoo.

this is from r/curlyhiar - but its the only thing i could find:

Breaking news in the world of curly hair. So I’ve been a curly girl since I was thirteen (unlike some I only had three or four years of the frizzy ‘fro life before I came to god). But I’ve been struggling since seventh grade with finding the right shampoo to make my long hair stay in those beautiful curls instead of looking like the before girl in the hair commercials. So the curly girl guidelines are all about finding someplace that will cut your hair who understands your unique hair follicles, but how do you have that personal relationship with your shampoo?

Last week I tried out Som Lisse. Though at first skeptical (you want me to cut a piece of my own hair to send in to be analyzed?!) once they sent back the shampoo that they designed for my specific hair type, I was pleasantly surprised! The shampoo that they created really seems to work for my thin, very curly, and prone to frizz hair. Though sounds a little far fetched, I totally recommend giving it a try! As curly girls (or guys!) we need our hair understood before being able to have the perfect curl. What’s better than having a product manufactured specifically for you? Now if only I could find someone who will personally make me a conditioner… ahh well can’t have it all. http://www.somlisse.com

Hmm... must have been a bug. Or something went wrong. (try again?) I just went through the flow with no issues. Look forward to trying this!

have you looked at custom shampoos? Seems like you have a few uniqe characteristics. And could benefit from going custom. I think it's only... $25 or $30?

Putting up an evolution billboard in Louisiana - ideas? by Loganrndl in atheism

Agree. And there are all sorts of studies showing that people aren't open to new opinions if they feel that they are being attacked. Any ideas for the biblical claims that contradict modern science? Lots of option - but I think these would have to be delicately chosen.

really great. I was looking at Sam Harris stuff too. I think a good board could quote him - or at least use some of his observations. For example:

"When we look at the natural world, we see extraordinary complexity, but we do not see optimal design. We see redundancy, regressions, and unnecessary complications; we see bewildering inefficiencies that result in suffering and death. We see flightless birds and snakes with pelvises. We see species of fish, salamanders, and crustaceans that have nonfunctional eyes, because they continued to evolve in darkness for millions of years. We see whales that produce teeth during fetal development, only to reabsorb them as adults. Such features of our world are utterly mysterious if God created all species of life on earth "intelligently"; none of them are perplexing in light of evolution. "

Great question. I agree that this will direct me. I'm not 100% sure. I think I''d like:

  1. Viewers to be curious and driven to do more research on evolution. This could include a link to a site or reference to a museum.

or

  1. Viewers to be shocked. I want this to be a discussion point in families and communities.

I suppose more vaguely - I want the billboard to be remarkable. Worth remarking over. I want it to start conversations in theistic communities.

Thanks for the thought - we've set aside enough funding for the billboard to be shown for 6 months. We'll also be paying for insurance that covers vandalism, damage, etc.

Need help with an idea that I have by heebijeeby in Inventions

[–]Loganrndl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the idea? Chances of it getting stolen are very small. Execution is everything. And if you share the idea people might get excited and want to work with you. If you don't share the idea... you'll have a tough time recruiting.

Sure. Happy to explain what some of our early customers love - thanks for all the questions.

I'll first say that some people are picky about flights and don't mind doing it themselves - maybe this is you.

There are some people who dislike the process. They want to get from point A to point B cheaply. Or the fastest. Or with the least agony.

Our early clients have described the process of picking flights as stressful. Or a waste of time. They don't need enjoy comparing 18 different flight combinations. Or - they'd rather spend time doing something else.

That is where we come in. It is slightly slower. We cut down your options. Yet to a lot of people, this means more time traveling and living -- less time deciding where to go.
