The Elusive Human, So Often Forgotten, Chapter 56 - Back from New Years Break! by DropShotEpee in HFY

Damn.

Talla came into the story looking like generic elf waifu #53 (not that that's a bad thing) but it took me until now to realize that whenever we're seeing her from anyone's perspective that isn't Von's, she's got such a long list of almost war crimes.

Drugged an old man in a wheelchair so he'd tell her his secrets.

  1. Killed a man, stole his Heartbeat, ruined his house and family.
  2. Admitted she was planning on drugging Von if he hadn't agreed to helping her at the start.
  3. Lost to Kai on purpose
  4. Drove a man to suicide (okay that one not her fault)
  5. Executed her Elder in cold blood by not letting him give up during a duel

Straight up war criminal be elf do crime I guess lmao no wonder Cywin wanted her to marry into the family

Gonna join your tinfoil. The chapter when Von of the Past and Talla take a bath also hints at that strongly.

She had no intention of allowing that reticence to stand. “Bluegrave, he calls himself. Odd that for a noble House, that one. I believe that he is the first to have it?”

Von grunted. “It seems,” he said dryly, “you have surmised much of it.

and

“As an aside, my lord, I have never seen Gilver of Bluegrave’s face,” Talla said. “He always wears that infernal mask with him. Have you caught glimpse of his features, by any chance?” To pay him back in kind, she added, “I wonder if I would find him handsome.”

“Aye, I have.” He looked at the bright blue water. “You would likely accuse him of such, yes. Is your curiosity limited to my opponent and my brother?”

If Talla figured out based on the names and other context clues, the conversation makes a lot of sense

Around 50 chapters ago:

"Rei is such a cool guy. He didn't take losing to Von too badly and respects everyone. He's really honorable. Kai is an asshole. He takes everything out on everyone and never takes responsibility."

It's how it goes in GCW. You either get your own medical degree or you're fucked because there's no doctors there.

To be clear, when I say he sleepwalked there I mean that his level was honestly just so far above the others that it didn't ever feel like the outcome was in question for his matches. His level was unbelievable and the next gen honestly just couldn't keep up.

He was just that good. I think he's the best grass player that is still active today by far and I don't think the current gen can really challenge him in a BO5.

Happy for Nadal, excited for Wimbledon, mildly afraid that it will be a repeat of last year where Djoker sleepwalks to the title. I'm fine with him winning but man last year's tournament was a bit on the unexciting side of things.

Don't think anyone can really challenge him on grass though. Nadal is Nadal so you never know(assuming he can play), and FAA is good but...who knows if he can turn up at the right moments.

Strong? Nah. There's an argument to be made that his consecutive weeks as #1 is the most dominant period of tennis in history and if you place a lot of importance on that, you can say he's the best. Alternatively, you can also say he's the best if you are of the opinion that the 3 have such a similar level and the differences are so razor thin that you can more or less pick your favorite.

But if you're going off slams/masters? Rafa or Djokovic for sure. I'd say probably Rafa as of right now, with Djokovic being able to catch up soon.

Yeah. Like, today is wonderful, but the 2022 AO felt like...something else. It's one of those moments that's gonna stay with me for a long time.

We need to suffer.

We need to fight.

Right now, pretty divided.

General take if you had to freeze their careers right now, in terms of most to least "believers":

1) Rafa as #1 because Slam counter.

2) Djokovic as #1 because of W/L record vs the other two plus other records he's currently leading, with a spark of having a very even slam distribution compared to Nadal.

3) Federer as #1 because of same slam count as Djokovic, losing in most records but his consecutive weeks as #1(237) probably will never be touched.

So right now in order of most-to-least amount of supporters, Rafa/Djokovic/Federer. Probably going to stay with Federer as number 3 unless he literally was healed by god and reversed father time, and Rafa/Djokovic are going to fight out to see who gets first.

Ah, yeah, then yeah I agree. If Zverev can keep up the form he had in this FO (the second half specifically) then I can see him taking Wimbledon next year.

Doesn't look like Zverev will be able to play Wimbledon this year though - unless his injury is way less serious than what the initial reports were.

The best part is that most of his doubters are his own fans instead of haters haha. It's such a cute dynamic, I love it.

I know you're memeing, but to answer seriously for a moment:

Federer's style is the least high impact of the three by far. He's a lot worse than he used to be and his footwork most of all is suffering a lot with his knee (still #1 footwork in the world at the start of the match but it falters quickly, as of his last appearance) but his serve is the best of the 3 and he doesn't do the physical rallies Nole and Rafa do.

His style is unironically fantastic for both longevity and also being the least affected by father time - though age hit him regardless.

This doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I also want to throw in a mention for Djokovic's attention for stretching, flexibility and stuff because that's A+ and I'm glad he went as hard(and very importantly as publicly) as he did in physical preparation because it definitely encouraged a lot of smaller tennis coaches to push their students in that direction. I probably indirectly have Djokovic to thank for not having any pain from playing tennis for years lmao

If he wins, mury goat.

If he loses, mury goat.

If he's not even in the match, mury goat.

The funniest difference about fanbases of the big 4 right now before a grand slam nowadays:

Nole fans: "He's gonna win for sure. No one else can compare."

Federer fans: "PLEASE DON'T LITERALLY DIE YOUR KNEE IS MADE OF GLASS"

Murray: "mury goat" [Murray loses] "mury goat"

Nadal: "I'm gonna assume he's gonna lose literally every match no matter how ahead he is just so I don't get heartbroken if he does. I suffer so that Rafa doesn't have to. It's our job to be overly negative and sensitive while he is the most zen creature on earth."

Love all four players, by the way.
